Very interesting. Would never of known that. I have 4 socket covers in my sons room, however he's 8 years old now, don't know why I haven't removed them by now tbh lol

I use elastic bands or hair bands to put around two cupboard doors and they are no longer able to open them :)

Probably worth getting some of the finger slam guards for when you've got doors open (my two have gone through the phase of being obsessed with mucking around with doors and they're such an easy one to slot on when the door's open and save the potential pain of a sore finger).

http://www.mothercare.com/BabyDan-Finger-Safe---2-Pack/412244,default,pd.html#avtc=33c08ca1a7ab1ec72576f6c810d164f8 but I think we got ours from Ikea and they were cheaper there. I just balance them on the top of the door frames when we've got the doors closed so they're near enough to get at but not in the way.

We use these around cupboard doors http://www.amazon.co.uk/BabyDan-8269-98-75-Cabinet-Door-Lock/dp/B000NUT5PS/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1397464173&sr=1-2&keywords=cupboard+door+locks just because they're easier to get on and off than constantly tying and retying knots in things

And for my own sanity we have drawer child catches on the bedroom drawers otherwise I'd go up there every morning to find someone's entire wardrobe all over the floor http://www.amazon.co.uk/Safety-Cupboard-Drawer-Catches-Screws/dp/B0099LV532/ref=sr_1_7?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1397464173&sr=1-7&keywords=cupboard+door+locks

Probably can baby proof less if you've not got a child like we do who had to go into a bed at 17 months as she was such a good climber (and tall with it so she could get a leg up easily) and was going to be out of her cot! Hence having drawer catches fitted - not so much to be able to pat ourselves on the back and call the room safe and not supervise - but just to stop things like tipping all her clothes out of the drawers and wardrobes.

We haven't done the kitchen at all - because the dogs tend to be in there we just have the room baby gated off anyway. Only other things we've done are stair gates (well ours is on the lounge doorway since our hall's so small you need to step onto the stairs to be able to open the front door inwards) and securing furniture to walls, TV strapped to walls and a fireguard (not that we use the gas fire but we don't want to set the precedent for little fingers poking it).

Haven't ever found corner cushions that stay stuck on at all - really not one to bother with unless you fancy re-sticking them 20 times a day.

Mothercare do a decent starter set of a variety of things.

After I managed to put a cupboard catch on wrong and lock myself out of it (had to force it open) I decided we wouldn't bother with stuff like that!

I just moved anything dangerous to a high up cupboard. Really, unless you have no top cupboards I think things like bleach and other cleaning stuff should be up there anyway - you never know when a catch might not click shut properly or LO will work out how to open them.

We still kept normal dinner plates in a bottom cupboard but the kids' colourful plastic plates and cups are in front of them so they never went for the breakable stuff as it wasn't as much fun. I don't shut the kids out of the kitchen but they wouldn't be left to play in there unsupervised anyway so I had no worries about if they did go for the plates - I'd just stop them. They are allowed to look in other cupboards - I don't see why you wouldn't let your child have a look :)

The only thing we did add are stair gates, top and bottom, as the stairs are steep and the girls' bedroom door is right at the top of the stairs. The one at the bottom was so I could leave the kids to roam downstairs without me feeling the need to follow them around. I've just removed them as my youngest is 2.5 and capable of using the stairs safely on her own now.
