All sorts. Brain surgeons, goalkeepers, bus drivers, window cleaners, steeplejacks, teachers, none of these get to take toilet breaks without restrictions.

    What a silly question!
you are the one being silly coming up with extreme examples to justify what cant be justified. i think you will find though that they can use a toilet at the first suitable opportunity. there must be some procedure to deal with a scenario where a surgeon is suddenly hit with food poisoning. a surgeon dancing about trying to hold it in while operating on someone cant be a good thing. bus drivers hold til they get to the bus station or near the depot. so not likely to be 2 hours. a window cleaner working all day cant surely hold it in that long. teachers? i doubt school lessons last 2 hours.

You have assumed that the job centre's purpose is to screen claimants before allowing them money - you have not considered that many people who attend those places are not entitled to anything - I was one such person.

I had paid enough NI contributions for my state pension and I actually went in there to look for a job. My experiences were not good - I was always being told that I did not have to attend (to maintain targets I expect) and the staff just looked down their noses at you. Take note Durham job centre - it's you I am referring to.

I fully appreciate that they have to deal with some complete wasters - I saw plenty of those - but if they don't like dealing with these sort of people - or any of their 'customers' for that matter, they should consider a career change - although I suspect that many would not get employed in the private sector anyway.
anyone who has paid all their ni and doesnt claim benefit should avoid a jobcentre like the plague.

Many women at a certain time of the month need toilet facilities every hour. I'm past that now but I remember it well!

    Absolutely.

I learned the hard way unfortunately. I had never been to one of these places and despite being entitled to JSA for (IIRC) 6 months, after that time lapsed, I got nothing, but still hoped for assistance in getting a job.

How wrong I was and they eventually managed to grind me down and I just stopped going. I did eventually get back to work - despite the Job Centre - not because of them.

I got my job thanks to help from the jobcentre and am still in it 5 years on, my local jobcentre was a big help. Just don't walk in there with an entitlement mindset or expecting them to do your jobsearch for you.

On subject of toilets why on earth should jobseekers be allowed into staff toilets. They're called staff toilets for a reason. I know if I worked in there, I wouldn't like to share staff facilities with random jobseekers.

My experience of a 'jobsearch' was offering me totally inappropriate jobs just to say that they ticked the box - absolutely clueless and they just go through the motions.

Nobody is suggesting that 'customers' demand to use staff toilets - all that is being asked is that facilities are provided for the numerous 'customers' that attend these places on a daily basis.

I don't think that is an unreasonable ask.

Unfortunately the minority of hardcore 'claimants' spoiled it for all when there used to be public toilet facilities available within JCP buildings years ago. The inevitable happened with fighting, drug taking and poo smearing in apparent vent of their views against the 'system'.
The whole feel of the JCP is not supposed to be welcoming and comfortable, they don't want people to look forward to going...they want people to hate it and not go back! In my local one they have the heating blasting all day all year, no water available and no toilets and nothing to read at waiting areas, no food or drink allowed in and no mobile phone use.
The job centre is not there to find people work, it's there to ensure conditionality is met.
