Just a light hearted thread, does anyone else find it weird/annoying when people say their child is 24/25/26 etc. months?
They're 2, your child is 2.
They're 2, your child is 2.
The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.

Yes
.
Once a child reaches 2 I don't see the point in saying anything other than "2" until they reach 3 (with the proviso of possibly 2 and a half depending on the context of the conversation).0 -
Yes. I would say 2, 2 and half, nearly 3 etc but not months.LBM 2009 (first attempts started 2007) 2nd LBM 2021 3rd LBM 2025

I was just talking about this yesterday. A friend at work was saying their daughter was 18 and half months. I was like 'errrr what age is that, is that 1 and a half'? and she was really upset I'd said this and said no it's 18 and a half months.......Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

I wouldn't have the patience to work out my age in months lolHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0 -
If I give my age in hex then I'm only 22

As for giving ages in months - it's OK if the child is under 2 but beyond that I'd give it in half-years until the age of 5 and then full years beyond that...0 -

Yup, I'm ok with under 2s in months. But beyond that it does annoy me, 2 1/2, 3 1/2 etc. is obviously fine. But 26 months? Nope! The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Up to age 2 I'd be ok with months. Well after 19 I think we described the wee one as "coming up to two" or "He'll be two in December"
I think it is just some people's way of still having a baby versus admitting they have a childWhat if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Sounds like veiled competitive parenting (or grandparenting) as the 'milestones' tend to have months beside them.
Most of us get to years once the little dear is of school age.
Me, I've 2 "teens" & as a label it's useless. They're 2 years and a googleplex of universes apart other than parents!0
