Do you ever stock pile on items when you see them on offer?

Hi all,

Just wondered if any of you stockpile groceries etc when you see them on offer?

I saw Asda own brand 2 in 1 washing powder on offer today at £1 per box, they had on offer the Ocean Blast, Lavender, Bio and Non Bio varieties.

I went a bit mad and bought loads, hubby was looking at me like I was some mad woman. We now have enough washing powder to last us months :rotfl:

Anybody else ever done this?

Has anyone seen any good offers lately where they've gone mad and bought loads?

Em x

    Yes Emmie,

I have done this on several occasions, have stopped now except when there is still some of my budget to spend in a particular month...I would see this as true OS behaviour, try not to go overboard as washing powder etc would be in on the amount that I allow myself monthly for supermarket

Just been to the dreaded Tesco's but they have 30% off wine when buying 6 bottles plus some already at half price (got an £7.99 bottle for £2.70)- kitchen is well and truly stocked up now!

    Hi there

GUILTY:o ..... i have done this for ages, i just couldnt help myself.... it was only when sorting out recently and packing up to move to Germany that i actually came face to face with my hoarding.... i have enough of every toiletry apart from loo roll to last me and hubby well over a year:p ... ok it doesnt really go off but i have made a pact with myself not to buy any more until it has all gone...so im going to put that portion of my shopping budget away - so when i do need more i can stock up again:rolleyes: ...

Im going to try and not stock pile whilst in Germany... i want to shop daily for food just for that day...extra exercise for me and i can take advantage of what is on offer.. although i will be hoarding washpowder ready for when we move back in 3 years as i am just on the last box from when i was last living there 3 1/2 years ago...10kilo boxes for about £4 and it is brilliant....

I think that sometimes you are swayed by the bogofs etc and i know i used to end up buying things that i wouldnt usually...but i have managed to stop that now:j

Yes. But I have found a shop where i can bulk buy staples and I do that for a lot of things now (like pulses, grains, washing up liquid, washing powder.)

:o Well I haven't bought washing powder since before Xmas and I still have 7 boxes left. Down to about 5 bottles of showergel, but haven't bought any since September. Kind of shows doesn't it. Think I still have 6kg of rice, 4kg of lentils, think they were last bought Xmas time aswell. 6 jars of coffee left, few months since I last bought that.

    Trying to retrain myself :o

Must admit I am TEMPTED if the ASDA powder is on offer but my DP will probably go crackers if I bought any more.
One day I might be more organised...........

In my Victorian house I have a big pantry, so regularly stock up on things. I have HM jams and preserves on the top shelf. Then baking things on the left, and kitchen staples and tins on the right. There's then a tiled slab which is fab in the winter for storing food - the pantry's as cold as my fridge then. Wine rack and other things under the tiled slab.

When people look in my pantry they make plans to come and stay at mine if ever there's a war!
