My hardware knowledge is a little out of date but the way you used to be most cost efficient at the low end of the scale was to try and go for a 'barebones' type bundle (novatech.co.uk did some but there may be other offerings these days)
1-Pick a Mb / processor / ram bundle (google CPU benchmarks etc etc and/or check the processor against the requirements for the type of game you want to play)
2-Pick a graphics card up separately (again google benchmarks and game requirements -aim for something that'll hopefully be good for a couple of years to come on both counts)
3-re-use as much as you can from an/your old PC -> ie optical/DVD drive, maybe HDD... Other bits you can drop in later as your budget eases in a few months time (eg better sound card, 2nd HDD etc)
You'll need to assemble it yourself and install drivers etc etc and get an operating system from somewhere
Failing that another option might be to check out the dell outlet site for a decent returned/refurbished one and drop a decent graphics card into it but you may be harder pushed on cost there (and check it has physical space and a spare slot for a card)0 -
I don't think it is possible.
PS4/ xbox level of graphic card around AMD 7850/ 7870 level. You can get get a PC able to play game, but not to PS4/ Xbox level.0 -

thank you for your help
i am on a complete new build as laptop is 10 years old XP with nothing really which is really savable.. Although just had a though can you use laptop hard drives in a desktop ..
might have a look at these motherboard bundles0 -
Yes can use laptop harddrives - assuming there a standard sata connector - I know Dell's tend to replace with a different connector.. what Capacity are the drives though? Since a gaming setup would likely benefit from SSD Main and a standard drive for storage...thank you for your help

crap

how much would i need to stretch budget by to get what i am after please?
your help is appreciated
You will be looking at £550?
AMD FX6300
8GB RAM
AMD R9 270X
R9 270X is similar speed with 7870...
If you want it cheaper, Possibly, AMD 750K/ 760K, 8GB RAM with R7 260X. This would not as good as PS4/ xbox, but should play most game. Possibly cost £460. But I don't see many custom build do 750K/ 760K.0 -

Has your budget dropped considerably because you were close to buying a £750 machine on another thread?0
