3G coverage

You could have checked them all in about 5 minutes! I believe there is one called Rootmetrics that compares them.0

That only works if you live in a city. I'm in a town and says hardly any coverage with any network.0 -
There are only 4. Its not a big problem. Always assume though that what they show is Best Case. None of them are very accurate in rural locations. Best bet is find one that looks ok then get a free payg sim and try it.
Not enough people actually bother checking coverage. They look at what network gives them the best 'deal' on that phone they are after. So you are on a good start at least. Good luck.0 -
A web based checker is only postcode driven-it does not guarantee you reception at a precise address or in a building. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

If you live in a rural location then you might find that O2 and Vodafone don't cover you so well as EE because EE seem to have put in more 3G transmitters in rural locations.
In towns and cities it's a different ball game and the best way is to ask others who live and work nearby which network they find gives the best service.
As stated above there are only four networks so it doesn't take too long to check their coverage maps (with a pinch of salt) and then try out the best one with a PAYG sim card for a while before taking the plunge.0 -

Yeah 02 3G coverage non existent, larger towns or cities only, is EE's coverage checker accurate assuming they dont turn masts off?0 -
SCO - If you go into your phone's network settings it should enable you to do a network search so you can see instantly which networks are available at your location.
You may need to do two searches - one for 2G and one for 3G depending on your particular phone's menu system but I have found this search is a good way to check coverage at any given location.0 -

any idea where that would be in an iPhone, could only see carrier section but only lists operators not 2g or 3g.0
