European Sizes?

I ordered a Double Duvet from Amara. It arrived and looked beautiful but when I put it on the duvet it was much too big and so were the pillowcases.
Rang Amara and they said it was European size but if I paid £10 they would collect and refund.
Although the sizes were given, I did not measure my Double Duvet.
Would anyone else measure before ordering?

Tell them you are returning under DSR and they are getting no £10.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Above assumes you are still within 7* working days of receiving the goods.
Check their T&Cs to see whether they place the onus on returns costs on the consumer (for cancellations).
* Assuming they informed you of your rights to cancel via durable means, such as email or on the invoice. otherwise you have up to 3 months and 7 working days.
Edit: This Amara? Their T&Cs are non-compliant with the DSRs.0 -
I would suggest that the goods are not fit for purpose.
Within the UK 'double' as a description for bedding has a recognised meaning. If you sell bedding as double and do not honour the normal naming system you should clearly state that in any advertising or listing of the product. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

I would disagree, the sizes are very clearly stated on the few I checked, so no chance of ambiguity. OP, can you link to the duvet cover in question please, so we can see how the information is presented?0 -
Received yesrerday and will call them today to arrange collection.
They will deduct £10 from Return unless I send via Royal Mail which will not be as secure unless I pay extra Recorded Delivery.0 -

I think you are correct as they actually state "European Double" alongside the dimensions. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Saw that but thought we were European.0
