Pruhealth update:
Apparently it has been decided very recently by Pruhealth that they accept some people have been unintentionally 'misdirected'.
Those people who joined between 1/1/2009 and 17/7/2009 and then took out gym membership are to be offered the pre 1/1/10 changes gym and insurance premium rates for another year. So until their 2011 renewal dates.
Why just these people i am not yet sure and i am waiting on pruhealth to inform me, i'm guessing that its because thats when they ran the 'Why pay for the gym' advertising campaign. But this is just a guess.
I am still waiting for all of this in writting as its just been confirmed verbally to me thus far.I am a independent health insurance specialising insurance broker. Anything posted on here should not be considered advice and is for discussion purposes only.0 -
Too late for me.. I cancelled with them yesterday!! Shame, but I'm lucky I managed to make use of this offer for a good three years...!0

hi, can someone here offer me some advice (don't really want to call pru and ask them because their customer service is terrible!).
I earned platinum status this year, renewal coming up in a few weeks (april 2010). Pru have confirmed that i will get the 'old' offer on gym membership ie £15 per month until my renewal date in april 2011.
can i just double check a) am i correct in thinking that i now stay on platinum status from april 2010 - march 2011, and therefore get the cheap eurostar, champneys etc?
b) i was on the cheapest level of cover (can't remember what it was called off the top of my head - essential?) which apparantly they've scrapped and put me on the next one up, making my premiums about £15 a month which was more than i was expecting. they've said i could change to the new cheapest level of cover but if i do, will i still get the same platinum member benefits including the cheaper gym membership offer for existing policyholders?

Yes you will stay on platinum status from april 2010 - march 2011, and therefore get the cheap eurostar, champneys etc.
If you were on 'Essential' plan you are now automatically on their 'select' plan 'Essential' is no more.
Many people who care more about the vitality rewards (cheaper gym, eurostar, champneys ect) and less about the actual insurance cover and hospital list are downgrading to Pruhealth's new value plan with local hospitals and an excess. This is cheaper than their old 'core' plan.
You still get exactly the same vitality benefits with Value as you do on 'Core' or 'Essential' as far as i am aware. I would ask Pruhealth to confirm this (prefferably in writting, an email will suffice).I am a independent health insurance specialising insurance broker.
