SSE freezes energy prices until 2016

Screw SSE.
The one thing that makes me madder than all these highway robbers, is the total apathy of people to change their supplier. My current deal with First Utility is about to end. The cheapest deal now appears to be Extra Energy, fixed till Sep 2015
A comparison test takes less than 5 minutes. If saving money is not enough, then surely it's the principal of the matter, that these companies are laughing all the way to the bank. Also SSE shares up 2.7% today0 -

Hmm.
Suffice it to say that on my own family’s annual consumption – 23,500 gas, 10,300 electricity – freezing SSE’s current variable standard rate dual-fuel tariff until January 2016 would produce an annual charge (£2,536) that is identical to SSE’s own current offer of a fix to March 31st 2017…
And both of them would be £164 per annum more expensive than Ovo’s current offer of a fix to March 31st 2016 (£2,372).
Cause for whooping celebration today over the Despatch Box in Parliament about SSE's announcement?
Hardly. I know which of those three tariffs I would choose.

The principal principle of the matter is to be wise enough to buy shares in the energy companies and laugh along with them. _party_

Just another big advertising con which our esteemed media and politicians have fallen for for their own purposes.
This freeze applies to SSE's expensive Standard tariff only (sound familiar - other energy suppliers?) and leaves that tariff still way more expensive than similar products from other suppliers.0 -
smoke screens, I bet the others will follow with the scamDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I hate SSE more than ever now. 500 job losses is morally unjust to fund a freeze on their most expensive tariff. SSE deserves to lose customers because of this.0

Some might suspect that the truth lies the other way round: namely that SSE wanted to make the cutbacks and decided to hide this behind a huge smokescreen of announcing that it was freezing its expensive standard tariff for a period during which it is privately expecting the wholesale price of energy to fall. :cool:Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

gratis is prob closer to the truth0

It's all smoke and mirrors they were going to cut the 500 jobs and are just using this 'deal' to cover the bad press.Nothing to see here, move along.0
