Frugal Frump to Fab - The Journey Continues

What a lovely thread! Can I join you too?
I've put on 3 stone in 3 years, fast approaching 50 and feeling fat, frumpy and out of control with myself.
Also I've developed Rosacea which has zapped my confidence.
Been taking 5HTP and Lithium Orotate for the last 2 weeks to try and help lift my mood which seem to be working.Didn't want to go down the anti depressants route as in the past I've piled on loads of weight in a very short space of time when I've been taking them.0 -
Hiya ladies
I was pointed over here to your lovely thread following this thread which I posted on another section.
I have three children and god knows how I managed it but seem to have managed to secure a position to a senior position in the office which has really made me take a good look at myself and I really need to lose weight and look more professional.
This is Day 2 of the diet - yesterday went well. Feeling hungry already but taking that as a good sign...can't remember the last time that I felt PROPERLY hungry.
Going to Tesco this morning to get myself weighed on the good scales - guessing that I am probably about 15 stone...nervous to find out:(
Look forward to supporting you all on your goals moving forward xxx0 -
Hi all, thanks again for all the tips! Lost the charger to my tablet so been off line! Been trying the home spa and have bought a diy tanner which so far

Friends given me a voucher for makeover at benefit so willl go as late as poss on day of hen to try and get makeup done! On another note, went for a wee day trip to our next town which is quite posh and trawled charity shops and now have a coast blazer £5 and aldo shoes £3! DH of course thought I meant Aldi and could nt get my glee!

Good morning everyone and hello to our newbies. Welcome aboard.
Great post Kiwi - yep slowly but surely catchee monkee.
Great chazza shop bargains there Adora - had to smile at your DH confusing Aldo with Aldi - bless him. :rotfl:
Maman - it's good to see you are still loving the "new you"
Well what a week - Transferred mum to her nursing home, spent a couple of days trying to help Dad pack up, moved him into sheltered housing yesterday. Mum very disorientated, dad tired and grumpy. I''m on my knees so today I'm having a day off!!!
I've spent the morning pottering about and I am just about to have a nice long soak in the bath and a serious pampering session - I am soooo worth it:rotfl:
Then later today my lovely boys and I are going out because we were all too busy to "do" Mother's Day last week.
They are taking me to see the Lego Movie (you can't beat a bit of silliness now and again) and then a bite of supper. Should be fun.
I shall still be busy next week but hopefully not quite so manic. I've deliberately kept a couple of days clear so that I can play catch up and do a bit more sorting out.
I shall of course have to deal with my parent's cottage - the place is bulging at the seams with "stuff".
One room at a time…..
Have a great day. X0 -
I love a CS bargain adora, but I love one from Aldi too!:rotfl:
Sorry to hear everything so manic LL but you are progressing with your parents. Baby steps, clearing the cottage next. Is your sis able to help you? Enjoy Lego.:)
I just wanted to share an observation: Last night I didn't fancy anything on TV and decided I'd declutter the DVD recorder instead. I found an episode of Benidorm ER (well I was tired;)) and couldn't help but be struck by the awfully wrinkly skin on so many on there. It wasn't just ex pats but holiday makers too. I'm always making comparisons between me and others I see in papers/tv of similar age and I know I look sooo much better than many!:D
That's not just a way of patting myself on the back (is that a yoga move?:p) but just to reaffirm it really is worth looking after your skin. I've been moisturising my face daily since I was about 14 and more recently using eye cream as well. Same with hand cream. I can't emphasise it enough.
It's grey and miserable here. I'm planning a lovely roast but other than that not much doing today. I hope the sun comes back very soon.0 -
Thank you for letting me join.
I've opened my blinds in my home first time since December .
Kiwisaver it almost like you know me - I've made the effort of being up & dressed by 8.30 this weekend - some days I've not got dressed or even washed
I dug out my straighteners & tackling my hair .moisturised my skin first time in months this is a lovely thread
It's like have friends around the country that actually know how you're feeling

I love Benefit. A few of my favourites are:- One Hot Minute bronzer
- High Beam highlighter
- Porefessional (sort of base that covers pores beautifully)
- You Rebel tinted moisturiser
- Brow pencil
- They're Real which is an amazing mascara but really difficult to remove
- It's Potent eye cream
I thought you might like a few recommendations not that they'll pressurise you to buy anything.
whichwhydoIturn, I'm delighted to hear you've opened those blinds!:) kiwi, gave you great advice about one small thing at a time and build from there and it sounds like you've made a good start. While I'm not brilliant at taking my own advice I think some fresh air and daylight has to be a good move. Others on the thread know I'm a Slimming World convert:o. It's the one and only 'diet' I've ever done, more a healthy eating plan really and it worked for me. I've kept 3.5 stone off for coming up 3 years!:D Other people I know are big fans of MyFitnessPal which is a free app that helps with a calorie in/calorie out way of weightloss. My issue with that is you could eat any old cr*p as long as you kept in the calorie range.
Anyway, I don't/can't do apps at the moment as I'm still dithering about buying a smartphone. I can't decide what to get. Any advice/comments welcome.
Back soon.0 -
whichwhydoIturn, I just came back 'cos I noticed you've got the most marvellous incentive to get all fabbed for September! Mother of the Bride! Wow! How exciting!0

Hi All
Please can I join? As you can see from my user name I'm a mum and quiet frankly for the last 9 years I've been concentrating on doing the best I can with that job and ignoring me! I'm very overweight and wear black to fade into he background most of the time.
Well no more, I've signed up for the Great North Swim in June and I'm going to get me back! I've gone from swimming 12 lengths 6 weeks ago to 80 lengths this morning and it's given me the confidence to make other changes!
So tomorrow is the 1st day of the rest of my life! And I sound more confident in print than I feel!Sorting my life out one day at a time0
