The German speciality meats are awesome, and so are all of the cheeses, the fresh meat is also a great buy. I also like their garlic sausage and chorizo. The pantry yeast is better than any own brand and cheaper.
DH and the sprogs love the hazelnut choceur at 59p a bar and the Belmont biscuits are superb.
I also buy egg noodles and the packets of chinese sauces,.
A friend swears by the nappies and baby wipesBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

All flavours of preserves (square jar) are packed with fruit, red lable tea bags, bread, cereal, chocolate, beans, fruit and veg, biscuits, meat, cheese and yoghurts (greek lemon one is lush and only 99p for a 4 pack), washing powder/liquid and shampoo/conditioner. There are only a few things I dont bother with which are toilet rolls, deoderant, tinned soups.
Their quiche is comparable to m&s and much cheaperThe best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -
Hi
Check out this thread;
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3743609
It is on the shopping forum and lists all the good and bad buys from Lidl?Aldi.
Dont forget the Aldi/Lidl etiquette 'Allow people to go in front of you if they have a handful of groceries'.
I'm a massive Aldi & Lidl fan, and this is coming from a food snop.
Best Buys
Edwards of Conwy Sausages (Maybe Wales Only)
Red Label Tea Bags
Own Branded Special K
Specially Selected Gammon Steaks
Outdoor Reared Pork Chops
Lamb Chops
Free Range Chicken (Whole and Breasts)
Any of their cleaning products
The list is endless, but the main advice is to try it!Cat :wave:0 -
Their Bavarian smoked ham 0.99p
Smoked cheese round slice, 1.19p
Bars of milk choc 30p bar! My son loves these
Their own Dorito crisps, plain and chilli flavour.
Minced lamb 2.49p or cheaper is very good.
Cucumber cheap, don't rate their tomatoes and not that keen on the fruit, some of it is cheaper elsewhere. Vegs are ok though.
And their own brand hand cream. Lacura 79p! Is very good.0 -

I can't believe anyone has a store (or queues) so big they can't get round in an hour!
Op, why not just buy Aldi brands of your usual shop and see what you like. Everyone is different and there are always people who will tell you the same product is amazing/best ever/ok/had to throw it in the bin :-)
I am quite sure, if you really put your mind to it, sticky taped the stopwatch to the trolley and you knew what you wanted before stepping in you might beat the parking scammers as you know they are watching you on their big "eye".
However as someone new is going and may spend some time browsing instead of speed shopping I thought as we are a money saving site, I should warn them that if they fail to set the stopwatch and realise it starts when you drive in and ends when you drive out and whatever you do, do not go back in the same day.
Well I thought saving them £60 was good advice, given the dozens washing up on the parking pages who were never warned.Be happy...;)0 -
The fajita kids are decent and good value. I like the antipasti. Their bagels are also nice, 79p for 4. I buy the aldi cat biscuits for my cats, they also do a more expensive version for 1.99, my cats love them.
Never had a dud bottle of wine from aldi yet. They also do a drink very similar to Pimms called Austins.
I tend to shop more in home bargains these days and just top up in aldi now and then, but its a decent store.0 -

Nope, I've never even seen an Aldi you could spend an hour browsing in, certainly not the ones round here and I can get a week's normal shopping from them so "big enough".
If you had suggested they check parking restrictions I wouldn't have felt the need to comment but your bizarre stopwatch comments were, I felt, ott.0 -
I started going to Aldi, just to see what the fuss was about. I now do the majority of my shopping there every week. Costs at least £20 less than anywhere else.
Good tip about the checkouts, it can take you by surprise if you aren't aware how they work. Plus, i always check my receipt before starting to pack my stuff, they put stuff through so fast, i've been charged twice on more than one occasion. Never any problem refunding though. Things i buy every week :
Pasta
Bread
Biscuits
Cereals
Lemon Green Tea
Crumpets
Crisps (better than Walkers - 30 for £2.69)
All fruit and veg
Bacon
Chicken (just cooked a garlic and herb spatchcock chicken £4.40, it's beautiful )
Pork Sausages
Sliced Ham and Beef
Norpak (Lurpak copy)
Noodles
Milk
Wine
Dishwasher Tablets (as good as Finish)
Toilet rolls
Their Lacura Moisturiser is the best i've had for years and i always bought Clinique before !
And anything else on offer ! This week i got Paint !0 -
Love the caramelised onion chutney,
Bara brith

I buy:

Bacon, sausages, eggs, minced beef, whole chicken
Quiche (best I've had) cheese pasta salad, crumpets, baps, wraps
Vegetables, fruit, frozen mixed veg
Things I didn't like:

And that's about it!0
