We are Aldi converts, our favourites are

    - Specially selected fishcakes with sauce centres
    - West Country yoghurts
    - Half coated chocolate cookies
    - Fresh/chilled garlic baguettes
    - Torchon Ham
    - Any of the vegetables

Don't think we have tried much there that we don't like!

Oooh it's strange you mentioning the fish cakes, we were in Aldi on Sunday and I picked one of those up to look at as it really sounded nice, think it was the cod fishcake with minted sauce. Didn't buy as we're on fridge, cupboard and freezer eat down to clear out loads of batch cooking I did over Christmas hols. But made note to try when I do start stocking up again.

Take a stop watch, some only allow you one hour now to enter the car park, park up, get inside, look around, queue 50 deep at the till, put it in the car and get out of the car park.
This is not a joke, read the parking signs and remember the timer started when you drove in and ends when you drive out.
Get it wrong and they will let the parking company loose who will want £60 and £100 if not paid quickly.
I would decide if you think shopping to a stopwatch is worth it.
    Be happy...;)

We have 2 aldi's in the town I live, one of them is always immaculate and only occasionally has a slightly blocked aisle when they are restocking, the other one is horrible. I would never shop in the second one regularly, there is always stuff all over the floor, aisle blocked with unpacked stock, rammed with people not a pleasant shopping experience. I use the other one as my main shop with top ups at Tesco and Asda very occasionally.

    Our favourites
    Oatie biscuits
    All cereals
specially selected stir in sauce for pasta
    specially selected fish cakes
crisps are good and way cheaper than brands
    lemon greek yoghurts
    tinned tomatoes
balsalmic vinegar - way cheaper then elsewhere

There are no timing restrictions at ours

    Gold Teabags
Aberdeen Angus Steaks - anything Aberdeen Angus at Aldi to be honest.
    Everyday Essentials Porridge
    Eggs
Their Magnum original green washing up liquid (better than Fairy)
    Thick & Creamy Yoghurts
Fruit Fools (these are about 37p and in places like Morrisons they are twice or nearly three times the price).
    Bread
Their fruit conserves are nice - blackcurrant and sour cherry are my favs and full of fruit.
Moser Roth chocolate, Dairy Fine isn't too bad either nor is their brand Choceur.
Jive bars - taste just like Twix
Ham joints (£2.99) that you slice yourself - I tend to have one for sandwiches, omelettes etc and I freeze it.
Specially Selected Maris Piper Oven Chips
Ginelli ice creams (the black tubs are the best)
    Multigrain crackers
Wienerschnitzels (pork escalopes) these are divine.
Their Super 6 fruit and veg.
Carlos Trattoria Tomato & Mozzarella Pizza for £1.50 - looks and tastes the same as Dr Oetkers pizza only cheaper.
Cereals too - cheaper and nice.

Never experienced this in Aldi or Lidl.

I can't believe anyone has a store (or queues) so big they can't get round in an hour!

Op, why not just buy Aldi brands of your usual shop and see what you like. Everyone is different and there are always people who will tell you the same product is amazing/best ever/ok/had to throw it in the bin :-)
  • Sliced ham/sliced sausage for lunches, German sausages, all the cheese range, basmati rice in big bags when they have them - I go there regularly for these things, plus whatever else I see as I browse.
Our local store doesn`t time you in the carpark, you can pay with card or cash, the staff are helpful and nice but they`d rather folks didn`t try to pack their shopping at the till unless you`ve only got a basket, then they`re fine with it!
  • I forgot to mention sliced chorizo, and parma type ham - both much cheaper than elsewhere.
