Parking eye

I've just received a parking charge (fine) from a company called parking eye. But the car park that I parked in had a ticket machine and I purchased a ticket for 3 hours. But unfortunately my little girl was ill and it delayed my return. So parking eye have a timed photo of me arriving and photo of me leaving amounting to a period of 3hrs 27mins and want to charge me £100 for over staying. I think its a little steep for 27 minutes and I don't know if to pay them or not. But I haven't got a clue how to appeal and even if I have a case.

and this do I have a case answer https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/48359430 -
You'd have a clue if you'd stopped to read the top NEWBIES sticky thread that begged you to 'read these FAQs first' before posting...why do we have to keep linking the top threads so many newbies ignore? A new thread is fine if you need help - but you do need to read the info already here first or we double up with advice. But I haven't got a clue how to appeal and even if I have a case.
It's such a busy forum we can't keep up unless we direct people to read the stickies first...I just can't understand why they get ignored though.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You overstayed by 27 minutes so the most you owe is an hour's worth of parking. If they want more than that it is a penalty. Penalties cannot be enforced in contract law. It really is that simple, so, yes, you definitely have a case. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

I see that you said "you have overstayed by X minutes, the most you would owe is X minutes of parking". I have seen a few references tpo this in other places too.
Is it worth ever saying in your appeal letter to the parking provider (parking eye in this case), that you would be willing to pay X amount (what you deem to be a fair price)? We just think that £60 is ridiculous, and, as I hear [parking eye often take people to court, i am not sure that I have the energy for that.

Don't offer them a penny. They only take people to court who ignore the advice given. The 'effort' of sending two letters (which are templates and require minimal adaptation) is more than worth the outcome. And the POPLA appeal costs the PPC money so it's win win.0
