Collect plus always deliver in 1-2 days for me.

    Was the item actually late?

2 weeks for an item that was supposed to be send 2nd class RM delivery.

Seems they used C+ economy option So although they provided a tracking number. It didnt arrive at the drop off point for a few days, Fair enough.
But then it took 3 days before the next step which appears to be the top end of their estimated times.

    Maybe unlucky?

1 - 3 days to collect the item. It was 3 on top of the senders 2 days.
2 days to sort at the hub.
    3 - 5 days for delivery.

I ordered a fair bit of stuff late Thursday night. Most arrived by Tuesday. The rest on Wednesday. This particular item arrived Thursday the following week.

The lack of a reply when i found out they used C+ economy and not RM as advertised was the annoying bit, Then reply saying well it arrived didnt go down well

Im sure i replied to a post last year about does it matter what method they use saying it wouldnt bother me.

I think i have changed my mind now.

You still havn't said if it was late.

I often use collect plus instead of 2nd class - where the packed parcel is over small parcel size or 1kg. But i do make sure its dropped off immediately - and our shops have collections every day without fail.

As i have a 3 day dispatch time - this means its already 3 days in front if i send it same day.

Can someone explain the communication rating re automatic 5 stars? I always contact buyers to thank them for their purchase and payment, and to let them know item is in post. I also complete MyEbay tracking and despatch. Yet my rating is 4.9! I can do no more. I did read that 5 stars are automatically given if there is no communication yet that to me doesn't seem right or good manners. Surely a buyer should receive some communication from seller other than automated Ebay messages.

The whole star system is flawed as it does not take into the negative aspects of human nature. It does not matter how conscientious and meticulous a seller is there will always be someone ready to leave 1s. I do think Ebay will regret this latest move as surely all it will do is increase the number of sellers complaining to Ebay re unfair low ratings, also some sellers I'm sure are not going to just take it on the chin as they know who left the rating - Ebay is going to descend into a very abusive environment.

Will Ebay now be monitoring who consistently leaves low ratings and suspend them does anyone know?

I agree completely. I always send a message to thank them for their purchase and confirm dispatch. Yet I have a low star for communication. As posts on here will confirm, there are buyers who are truly nasty awful people yet they carry on buying.
  • You can have too much communication.

    Probably hit nail on head.

Sometimes i get 3 'you have won' emails and 3 'dispatch' emails.

Some buyers will find that annoying.

I no-longer send any emails unless contacted - and my comms stars are good.

Thankfully, Ebay will soon stop counting them anyway. I can get abusive again then :D

    ( Just kidding :p)

Mark the item ad dispatched and that's all you need. Anything more is just irritating.

For my sales volume, I don't have the time to send individual messages to all of my buyers - I like to eat and sleep sometimes, too. ;)

Buyer pays, I send and mark as dispatched. Job done.

    Latest DSR report shows a 3* for P & P from a Uk buyer.

I have a RM business account and don't charge for packing materials, so buyer pays the absolute minimum. I will be so pleased when P & P stars don't count.

    That's so true.

All that is required is confirmation that the item has been sent. By marking the item as dispatched, the system generates an email to confirm this.

Anything else is too much - a message to thank me for paying, a message to say the item has been dispatched (as well as the system generated email), not to mention a packing slip grovelling for feedback. In extreme cases I will drop a star for communication when giving feedback, if I've been bombarded with too much information.
