I wonder if this will reduce the number of spiteful low stars? If buyers know sellers can identify them maybe they will think twice about leaving lovely glowing positives and low stars across the board.

Thats why they do it - too scared to leave neutral or neg - but leave spitefull low stars thinking we will never know it was them.

I only noticed recently that i have been marked down slightly on my DSR's. I have only sold a dozen items and am meticulous in my descriptions, well photographed, sparkling clean, well packaged and posted next day, never once over charged by even a penny for postage..positive feedback left all positive and within a few of days after posting...so why the mark downs? Is it spite or pettiness?

I in return have never marked anyone down, even when i have had to wait days for item to be sent, item recieved dirty...one childs toy was absolutly disgustingly dirty...but a good scrub brought it up as new...maybe this will weedle out the spiteul buyers.

I marked down a seller recently. They used collect plus which took far too long to get the items to me.

Didnt help that the seller had listed the item as being delivered by RM.

When i queried the slow delivery they failed to reply. Then after it was delivered and signed for they messaged me saying well it arrived didnt it.

    Nice.

Collect plus always deliver in 1-2 days for me.

    Was the item actually late?

I really couldn't care less, I've never run reports to identify who's left what DSR's - in fact it must be 6 months since I've even looked at my DSR's...

2 days ago my dashboard showed up a low star for despatch- and nothing but absolutely glowing positive feedback.

I have started running reports to id the buyer, but I suspect I know who it is. Just seems a co incidence that I posted here last week about a buyer who was insisting I was using stock photos and wanted refunds and replacements etc , I suddenly got a positive from them, one item was never returned but I have my suspicions.

It is my only low star and usually it wouldn't bother me but when the defect rules come in that low is dangerous.

Unfortunately I have found the despatch star to be the hardest to get removed.

That can be a very dangerous policy as quite often the warning emails from ebay come well after a problem shows up on the dashboard, and it can be too late to do anything.

But surely as long as you're selling a reasonable volume and providing a good service, then the occasional contentious low DSR won't make that much difference?

That's right but unless you check your expanded dashboard how do you know if you only have an occasional low star? A smaller seller who is assessed over a 12 month period can face issues with as few as 3 lows in one category.

This is about to go out of date as ebay are switching to a default system which is likely to be harsher as it also counts cases and all other issues, but have a read of the first couple of posts here:

I interpreted the "new approach to seller standards on eBay"...

to mean the "current approach has proven to be an unpopular failure".

Of course anonymous DSRs was a complete failure - it attracted crooked buyers like bees around a honeypot and was therefore impractical for a decent seller to differentiate between the genuine gripes and the malicious opportunists.
