All the window cleaners round here come in a van with the detergent and water etc in large pumps in the back all attached to hoses that have the attachments on the end. No one washes windows these days with a bucket of water. For him all he needs to do is beat £72 profit a week to be better off. That's just not that hard. Ladder plus bucket = window cleaner. £100 investment, at most. We’ve had to remove your signature. Really? So what's the guy I pay a fiver a time doing?
Comes round on foot with bucket and ladders
Comes round in the evening on his bike for his money.0 -

Last time I saw someone doing it with a bucket of water around here was last week.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

We are a bit more upmarket. Seriously with the guys round here you would get no business with a bucket unless you were charging a tiny sum to do it. And be able to do it well.Last time I saw someone doing it with a bucket of water around here was last week. We’ve had to remove your signature. I do. Every day, all day till I go to bed. Sourced 10 companies yesterday to email and chased 60 job applications as well as applying for jobs (cv and cover letter) and started to fill in a large application form where I have one competancy question left to answer to compiling the answer over the next few days. It has to be between 2000- 4000 words for each reply!
2000-4000 word answers for each competency based question. Really?
What ius the job for - a rocket scientist?0 -

Or the locals have more money than sense.
Obviously it would be difficult to start up a business here, because there is a lot of competition and other have presumably become well established.
But a window cleaner using basic equipment would have fewer work expenses so could still make a profit by charging a lower price, depending upon how much competition he has and how good he is at cleaning, reliability, etc.0 -

So... you don't want to do window washing, huh?
Then...- a car valeting service; you go direct to the customers car.
- Or a garden tidy service.
- Or a dog walking business.
- Or you can do a deal with your local coin operated laundrette and offer an ironing service on weekends; pay the owner half your income.
- Or you could offer a service to old age pensioners in your area... taking the rubbish out / doing the dishes / unblock guttering
To be honest, just tip of my mind stuff.
Plenty more ideas... start up a tea-reading and fortune telling service in your area... write articles for magazines... put bicycles together... put IKEA furniture together for people... set up a shoe shine booth for bootfairs.
All these might be bad ideas, but given a month or so surely it's possible to think of a good one? Given that you only need to beat £72 a week.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Asking for examples of every essential part of the job as per the job spec.
It is a Purhcase Ledger Manager in education based in London.
I have done the questions that asked what interested me in the job and the one asking about my skills and experience but now I have the 3rd and final one to write where examples have to be given.
So if it says
Experience of training staff
I have to write what training I have given, how it was given and to whom etc
OR
Building relationships with external suppliers.
How I get a good relationship going with all suppliers, how I keep them happy and pay them on time. How I work well with them to make sure our accounts are up to date and nothing over due etc
About 20 essential items to write about. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Firstly, I don't want you cleaning my £200k Merc McLaren with used rags.
Secondly, I don't answer the door to the unshaven anyway.
A laminated UB40 card doesn't count as ID I'm afraid...0 -
With those types of applications, applying for jobs is more exhausting than working really.
I find it difficult to fill in application forms about myself, at the best of times; have to think a huge amount because you want to put your case forward in the best way you can.
Mind you, I am sure that the more of them anyone does the easier it becomes.0
