Shame they let ignorant people on planes, but I guess you have just as much right to travel as parents and children.

I've met a few like you when travelling with babies/children, the kind of people who roll their eyes and start huffing because there are children seated near them. Each and every one of them has thanked me at the end of the flight and have congratulated me on my well behaved children.

You clearly can't see outside of your noise cancelled bubble.

Well behaved children I have no problem with, it's the noisy little tykes with mothers who are normally tree hungers who let there little degenerates climb all over the seats, kick the chair in front and ball and scream till they get their way ? Shame they can't have a Shute fitted on long haul which would allow these little characters to be fed down into the hold ?

Irony is a much-under-rated talent; how can a 2-line post which encompasses humour, biblical and fairytale references be described as ignorant. Happychappy seems to have a positive outlook and an effective survival technique with his Bose promo.

Anyway, another way of coping with others' kids on planes would be to expose yourselves to my grandchildren at home before you go. Ours are fairly full-on, so we found it easy to tune out the occasional kinder-squalling from adjacent rows on last week's Malaga trip.

But to return to the OP- our memorable trip with an 8-month-old was 2 days in a minibus with 3 generations of family to the south of France many years ago. The toddler was much less grumpy and whiney than the adults, so, on that experience, you'll be absolutely fine.

My daughter came over from Oz last year with our then 8 month old grandson, he yelled and screamed from Sydney to Dubia and then was miserable to Heathrow, she had a chap next to her despite her booking a bassinet which should give adults a clue to stay away from the possible mine field, instead he rang the attendant bell and said "Get me another fu@*%g seat away from that" pointing to the baby ; )

She comes in three weeks, this time the happychappy is 18 months old, she considered drugging him like all her friends do, with something like Pheregan which is used widely in Oz, but instead she will try him without, I feel sorry for her, but also totally understand the other passengers and wouldn't want what the row created by someone else's offspring, so would agree with planes being sectioned off, similar to when carrying livestock ; ) babies are best seen on Skype ! At least you have a volume button !!

What exactly are you concerned about with the flight?

Maybe because people might be trying to sleep? and if there is a screaming baby they can't?

A trip to Spain will be a breeze, its only three hours or so, hardly time to get the blood pressure up.

I would be more worried about the weather, conjunctivitis, heat rash, upset stomachs and all those marvelous baby problems you have to look forward too, been there, got the tee shirt, so don't worry about a short flight, plus lots of other cooing mothers will give you sympathy ; )

Just watch out for the happychappy who asks if he can help you put the little one in the overhead storage locker ; )

Spain isn't a 3rd world country, you can get anything there you can get here and everything is safe to eat and drink.

As has been mentioned a few times, babies are fine on short flights, when they become toddlers the problems start so get your holidays in while you can.

Whereabouts in Spain? On the southern costas it will still be pretty hot in september and may be a problem for sleeping at nights. The east coast will be cooling down a bit by then.
    Out on blue six..

I'm sure an adult can cope for two hours without sleep!

Sometimes the kids can be better behaved than adults. How many times have flights been diverted because a bunch of kids have overdone it on the calpol, and tried to start a fight. Or groped the stewardess. ;)

Take the little one, and get some sunshine

as for Mr Wang. I believe he was being a little sarcastic. As most threads involving children, invariably are about the purchase of milk, nappies, or baby food. Which of course as spaniards dont have children. Are [not] available in spain:rotfl:

We spent a blissfull 4 week holiday (as i was on mat leave & DP can work as long as he has internet) in lanzorote when DS was 5 months old !!

    A couple of tips :

    If bottle feeding -
Pre Order some cartons of ready made baby milk from boots airside a couple of weeks before you travel . Also pack enough for the first 24 hours if you'll be taking powdered formula to make up as there is a special "baby water" (think the normal stuff can contain salt) Its readily available in supermarkets and easily identified by the picture of a cute baby on the label !!

Do take your own formula powder - Aptimil was double the uk price ( I nearly fainted at paying £22 per box 4 years ago )

Dont bother taking nappies with you - the spanish "Do Dots" are just as good as pampers and about the same price.

If baby is being weaned and you are using the pureed ready made stuff again dont bother taking any - its readily available in super markets under the Hero brand and the quality is easily as good as anything you'll get in tesco.

Oh and one last tip buy a small cheap £2 baby padding pool - great if the main pool is too cool and it can double up as baby bath if you only have a shower in your room (plonk it in the shower tray & presto an instant baby bath)

Enjoy your baby and the holiday.............
  • There is absolutely no difference between "baby water" and normal mineral water. In fact, the only difference is to convince idiotic parents that they must absolutely only buy the "baby water" because it has a picture of some child on it.

Still, if you want to pay twice the price for a picture of a baby, it's your call.
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)
    sitting on the floor.
    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.
