Help me with o2 and a huge phone bill!

    Beware that Tesco Mobile is the only network that offers 'hard' capping.
    PAYG with bundles is similar to 1-month capped contracts.

    Have you thought about paying out of the contract to then move to pay as you go? It would probably cost around £250 which by the look of things is currently one months bill. Giff Gaff use O2 and give a lot more than O2.

    Why would o2 help? If he has made the calls outside of his allowance, then someone must pay for them. Not sure why they would give any discount on the bill if the minutes have been used.

    Take the sim card back, surely paying the default contract each month whilst you can serve notice to end it and leaving the sim card in a drawer is better ?
    Let him get a GIFF GAFF card and earn his top ups.

    Failing that, get ready for some more huge bills.

    No moral judgement was made whatsoever. I was simply informing you of the reality that you seem unable to accept -that you and you alone bear the responsibility for this, and that o2 have no obligation to discount the bill. There is no need for the provider to inform you when you go over the limit, and if they did it would be done by text-which you would not see. You don't seriously expect them to write to everyone when they go over their bundled allowance? All the data is there on the phone logs to tell the user this.
    We get this same story several times a week, and it's always blamed on the provider.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    There's a need for a sticky notice in this forum. If you've given a contract phone to a child, don't expect any sympathy. There's a reason only adults can take out contracts. I'm 34 and I'm perfectly happy with payg.

    These wont make a ripple to o2 but they will lose them and it is o2 who, with a little understanding, are the only people who can do anything about that.

    O2 won't care. They are the same as all the others and will replace your contracts with new ones from an equivalent angry parent decamping from Vodafone or EE.

    but whatever happened to people taking responsibility?

    If I had run up a bill like that as a teenager, my @ss would have been kicked and the sim card taken off me. I certainly would not have had chance to run up a second huge bill.

    I hate this whole blame culture now. Lets always blame someone else! and shock horror as mobile network makes a profit! Those horrible companies!!

    Absolutely. The original I know "what everyone thinks" sums up an attitude. Actually it would have been why give a teenager with the same degree of responsibility as their parent a blank cheque-book in the form of a mobile contract in the first place? Personal responsibility rather than blaming the innocent party (O2) is the real answer.
