I do hate it when a poster deletes his posts in a huff, so I thought I'd just stick this up (version as edited 9.am )

Hi all i'm unsure if this is where I have to post this but if anyone can help I would be very grateful ..

First of all it started back in September last year we decided we wanted to buy a small camper and the garage that we contacted said they could find us one and they did from another garage ..The price would be 8 thousand for a fiat Doblo converter very nice car it looked so we paid a deposit and they went down south to collect it bear in mind we live in Cumbria and the garage that we was buying off was a well known one in Bolton not a back street garage but a good dealer so we thought the guy who was to collect it was told if it had any problems we didn't want it but no everything was fine so we was told ..

Till we went up there over two hours by train we arrived and the car wasn't ready like they said it would be So had to wait then we asked about the sticker naming the company that was meant to have done the converter and they said sorry we don't deal with these normally so don't have a clue
.That should have sounded the alarm bells but so long as we had a genuine garage that does the MOT and passes it road legal everything would be ok ..they paid for that to be done ..
has we was getting the car on finance they said we had to pay for the extended warranty we only got three months cover with them ..so we said ok if we need to we will pay the 250.00 extra to cover it .
Oh yes almost forgot we had a struggle to get insurance on the camper cos it hadn't been proven road worthy after being converted but at last that was sorted .
We drove away from the Garage and noticed an engine warning light kept flashing we had only gone 10 minutes up the road so we took it right back to be told if you take it to your local garage they would sort it and send them the bill ..so off we went and since that day its been hell ..
    1. the engine warning light was a mystery but when the Garage tried to find out the problem it showed EGR valve so we had that replaced the Bolton Garage wouldn't pay at first until we said it was still in the 3 months warranty with them so they agreed with us but to make it cheaper send our garage the part and just pay labour ..that was after mark part not the original ,
    2. we thought it was fixed but no constant jerking going down the road until we decided to take it off to blackpool for the night and found desal, smoke pouring out of the engine it's a wonder we got home it was the injector pipes had bust we drove 2 hours with desal pouring from the engine just to get home ..
3 then the mass air flow went on it we got that sorted cos we already knew they wasn't covered by the warranty as it was on the outside of the engine
4.plus the pulley wheel then if that wasn't enough last week the cam belt as gone and no more driving we are stuck now with a thousand pound bill as when the garage sold us the warranty they forgot to tell us that it was useless they had never given us a service history so the warranty won't pay up .
I've contacted the garage to be told the guy that sold us the car no longer works for the company and in that I replied but I never bought it off him I bought it off the company the reply was we don't know what was said and no way of proving it so take legal advice and get back to us ..
They have washed there hands of all this and yet me and my husband are left paying for a car that isn't even drivable ..please help any information ..sorry for the long post but needed to get it off my chest and tell all facts , where do I get help or even am I able to its unfair we have to pay for there illegal sale of a warranty. thankyou for reading .

And the highlighted bit is the relevant part that the OP then amended later on after it was pointed out to them that driving a vehicle in such a condition was idiotic and downright dangerous to other road users.

Send the garage a letter headed "Official Complaint" and note that you were told you had to take out the extended warranty (They cannot insist you take the cover) and that it was also miss sold due to you not being able to claim on it due to the lack of service history.

Keep the letter concise and polite also get someone else to proof read the letter so you can use paragraphs

    Quick tips for letter writing.

Whenever you write a letter that is either written out of frustration or for legal purposes don't let personal anger and feelings get involved. Try to be precise and stick to facts.

My personal favourite is to leave the letter on the side for 24hrs before sending. This gives you time to cool down and give you time to add anything you may have forgotten to mention. Far better to wait 24hrs before sending than to sit there wishing you had or had not said something.

    Good advice.

Regardless of the OP's selective editing in repsonse to others' comments, he sounds to have been properly done over by the seller, and I hope he gets some recompense.

What's the cars age and mileage?
    What does the warranty cover?
    How was the vehicle described?

You may have some rights, possibly even to reject it for a refund. Unfortunately though because of your actions and sheer lack of duty of care you may have caused consequential damage which they may not be liable for.

I think you need to have it independently inspected, have the inspector determine the likely cause of the timing belt and other issues. Do some research of the vehicles service schedule and estimate lifespan of components to try build a case if there is one to answer and distinguish between wear and tear and faulty components and prove the faults was not caused by your lack of care (if applicable). Only then can you properly seek to apportion repair bills between you and the seller or have a stronger case to take further action.

Your actions though was not just damaging to the vehicle, but wreckless. As much as I dislike motorbikers (well most) I certainly don't wish death or serious injury on them which this could have done!!!!!!!!
