A thought for the day; a quote by Carl Sagan, because I want you to know you're made of something special.

You pretty sparkly star you. xx

As long as your good enough to make yourself happy that's what's important.

Love this and I think it's spot on. It took me my first 35 years of life to work it out, second 35 should be much better :D (well, already 11 years in and its pretty good :rotfl: )

  • Thank you all. I don't know why I never feel as good as others, or have confidence in myself. My school reports always said that SS should have more confidence in her own abilities. But I feel that there's always someone around to tell me I'm no good or being overconfident or not as good as someone else. That was my Achilles heel in my carp job as a manager you are on that pedestal for everyone to pick at. They missed out on a lovely manager - hope they've got an unfeeling slave driver now.

My lovely colleague at my old job started helping me to look at my skills and start to value them. I need to keep that up don't I, it's that confidence inside that I need. :)

    Thanks everyone.

Hi Supersaver. Thought you might find these links interesting. I used a lot of Mind Tools stuff when coaching at work.

Please feel free to ignore if you've seen them before or don't think they'd be helpful.

  • One bit of advice that worked for me is to consider yourself as if you were someone else. If someone else had done, said, gotten, achieved what you had, how would you react and / or judge them? It helps see when you're being too hard on yourself.

  • Thanks INOD. My family is not very forthcoming with praise, in fact entirely the opposite - there's always someone much better etc. Although I think inside, they are perhaps a teeny bit jealous or feel a bit threatened. Its so weird how I feel like a grown up and confidence in some circumstances, but in others I don't. I think I need to suss those out and figure out why and try to change how I feel about them (its my mindset) or if I can't, avoid them.

You are so right though - if someone else had done what I had done this past 18 months I would admire their tenacity, daring and ability. :):T:) Self applauding inside now :):)
