Carrot cake in the oven

Well we had cold meat and dips tonight with some nibbles and crisps. I think it might be my version of Anti-Pasti. Don't ask me what it is but I've seen it in all the supermarkets - usually olives, meat and other things. Does anyone have any MSE ideas for me to make my cold tea a bit more Mediterranean please?

Thanks Shelbi. They look yummy. I didn't fancy the ones covered in oil from the deli counter, but these look great and I can make them myself. XOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Hope everyone has been enjoying the sunshine. It's been a strange but good day here today.
Discovered that Anti-pasti is 'before the meal' so it's starters for us for tea. So you could have anything you liked, it's like Spanish tapas. Really good on the washing up as there was no cooking. It would be nice to make some bits in the week maybe and put them in the fridge (like Shelbi's tomatoes). Leftover Friday? What I really love is that all the bits leftover make lovely lunches and nibbles for a few days which is nice over the weekend. Will be good once I start my new job as it will mean once I get home on Friday I can relax. DH generally cooks on Saturday evening with plenty of leftovers usually for Sunday. So I just need to start meal planning and shopping for the four evenings. One night we tend to have a fast food night ie frozen chips with pizza or a Harry Ramsdens cod piece 😉. But I need to organise myself with a selection of healthy but quick evening meals as I don't like to rely on readymade stuff and it can be expensive and also boring.
Have a good evening everyone. XOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

I know it's probably not the right suggestion but I love the iceland £1 currys. But they're probably not healthy.
I love the idea that Mr SS cooks on saturdays, is he a good cook? One of the best skills a guy can have is cookery in my opinion.

Hi KP
I've been calling into Iceland lately and have been saving my pennies onto my Bonus Saver card. Once I've got £25 they will give me an extra pound so I was thinking what I could get for that. Sadly my freezer is tiny so I will have to plan well. Maybe some curries would fit - that would go down well in the SS house - which ones though, there seems to be a huge selection - even weight watchers.
Mr SS is a superb cook and he washes as he's goes too - normally, unless he's had too much vino. But he's under orders now that if he wants to drink, we've got to have something simple to wash up - or go out! I like to have a relaxing Saturday these days. I am very lucky to have him I know.
Hope you've had a good day KP. I've been a lazy so and so today, but I've just been clearing down my old PC. I'm just loading the files I want to keep to the cloud. Tomorrow I need to buy a 20gb data stick to put it on too. Then I need to find out how to wipe my computer and whether it's worth recycling for anyone.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Oh good on you, you got yourself a goodun
I sound very shallow, but cooking is a big tick :rotfl:
I'm not good with knowing the worth of computers but tech goes on so quickly that I personally don't like to try selling/giving away old computers.
having a lazy day is the best sunday you can have.0 -
Not shallow KP, very sensible
Just found this website: donateit.co.uk that will recycle your PCs and laptops and give a £10/£5 donation to your chosen charity. Plus they will wipe it too. (Sorry there is no link but I'm on my iPad and as soon as I touch the link button the website closes itself down. Hope they fix it soon.

Well I feel like it's been the spendiest time ever. I literally don't know where the money has gone but I have been getting the debit card out quite frequently. It's a very heavy birthday month though and not yet over. Really do need to rein it in as the new month hasn't even started yet and it's almost all spent.:eek:
I've subscribed to the konmarie thread and took a box of goodies to the charity shop earlier. I know it sounds slightly wacky to thank your things before you dispose of them, but it really does release you from the guilt and therefore the temptation to grab it back again. I also kondo'd some carrier bags - how fab is that - I can fit several in my bag now. I'm not quite ready to kondo properly yet as I'm still creating space, but I've made great progress. Dd and I put several things on eBay which could fetch around £200 and have another couple of things advertised locally with some interest. I talked to DH a bit about getting rid of some stuff. It's quite difficult to throw stuff from dear departed mil. Also fil had an accident this week and is seriously ill. Been overdoing things again and it will be a couple of months recuperation at least.
Will need to take some time to see fil, but I also want DH to do a bit of DIY so I'm ready to kondo. Feel at the moment that I'm preparing for it, although I'm being careful to avoid getting more storage. That's what I did at my last house, it was very tidy but all stuffed in cupboards:eek: moving was a nightmare and I really want to feel free to move easily if we want to.
Picked up a beautiful Bristol glass item in cs earlier. I just wanted to hold it up to the light, stroke it and watch the sunlight on it. Defo worth £1.75 and it's a good item to measure my other ornaments against - I don't like any of them ! Cupboards will be very empty if I get my way. :rotfl:OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Yay. Two local items sold for £125 and 1 fleabag item for £40 profit. I thanked the items and am loving the extra space and the extra funds
Spendyitus is still the order of the day, when I realised MrT boost vouchers had arrive and I bought myself a new mop and bucket!!! I really know how to live the high life :rotfl: but I'm really excited to hoover and wash the floor when they arrive. :rotfl::D
Can't wait ti kondo my pants and really want to kondo the ornaments:rotfl:
