Only one aerial but 2 tvs

As the heading says, I have one aerial, but would like to be able to have tvs in 2 different rooms. I don't really want to have cable snaking across the floor or have to take up the floor to do this.

Where the aerial comes into the house, I have an older tv with a freeview digibox and in the other room I have a newer tv with built in freeview. I don't have cable or sky. I tried an indoor aerial, but I could only get a few stations.

I've seen tv sender and receivers, but don't know if they would work in this situation and does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations.
I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:

Just get an aerial installer in to run a cable from the roof aerial to the new TV.
    Should be < £70.00

The senders you're looking at will take the PICTURE, not the SIGNAL, from one TV to another. As in, it'll take the Eastenders picture from one TV to the other, you won't be able to change channel. The only way to carry the signal from an aerial to a TV, is a coax cable. You need to think of how to get it there with least hassle (roofspace?).

Technically it is possible to get different channels on different tv's without having to run cables.

But its alot more complicated and expensive.

i basically run a media server that has a number of tv tuners in thats all plugged in close to the aerial. Then each tv has a seperate HTPC that connects to the server and streams the live tv from one of the tuners. This also has the advantage of having a centralised storage for recorded programmes. These HTPC's can be connected via wireless or powerline adapters

As already noted, that just supplies the same channel to two TVs. I think the OP wants to be able to view the full channel choice across two TVs. In addition, such signal boosters can be detrimental to picture quality across both TVs.

Simplest method is to run another cable-this can easily be hidden in trunking.

I did. It's a signal "booster" which can actually degrade the picture quality (as seems to have happened to a few of the purchasers who wrote reviews).
Only a separate cable or aerial will provide the full bouquet of channels available and, even though the linked item is only £13.99, it's hardly a money saving option if it doesn't work as required.

Good points but as most people should be aware it will only boost a signal if present in the 1st place.

Hopefully the case in question has a good picture signal to 1 TV.

The equipment linked will boost any noise and/or signal present by 18dB, it is not intelligent enough to monitor what is present.

Nothing from the OP suggests that any level of amplification is required.

If the current TV and aerial install worked pre DSO levels then it will certainly work now on at least another TV point.

From experience if amplification is required I would not recommend anything from the Philex / Labgear brand it is utter garbage with poor support,
One of their shonky amps nearly burnt the roof off one of my customers houses, they weren't interested when I got in touch with them regarding it.
  • Thank you everyone

I do have an aerial cable that runs under the floor from one room into the next, but it stopped working during the floods. That was put in before any carpets were laid or furniture in place. It looks like my only option will be to move all the furniture and take up all the floorboards to replace it - or run another cable over the carpets and through the doorways.
