My parents did this with Italian students before I was born, one of the then students we kept in touch with and is now my son's godfather(thought it rude not to, him being italian, living in new york....violin case hahaha-just joking about the violin case)

Looks like quite a few people have them. also check out the friday ad as they advertise for host familys . Also universities advertise for international student host familys at £95.00 a week. My student rang up as was eating out tonight , which was nice !!!!! . Sometimes they dont go out much , so just get the children to scream at top of voices !!!. No seriously some are really nice, its a good way to earn some extra money. If anything my house is always tidier if I have a guest !!

We used to sit on Paolo's feet so he couldn't go out, didn't usually work. But we adored him, still do, he is like the older brother we didn't have.

Not quite the same, but I know that some rugby clubs (so probably football too) require host families for their 16 and 17 year olds. This is so that those potential future stars can join the academy of these rugby clubs, whilst still attending sixth form. I'm desperate for DH to get a job near Leicester so that we can offer a room to one of these lads. Not only do you get paid for it, but you also get to be involved (if you wish) more in the club.

Hi can I ask i have students and I have one staying for another 3 weeks. I have a wireless router so they can have internet access. I get £100. a week for student, but do you think I should charge a few pounds extra a week for the reason being they are charging their laptop up daily, and leaving it charging for the day. I have a laptop and it goes for 2 hours before you have to charge it, so bearing in mind. He has been here a few weeks now and I wont start charging him now , but in the future when I have other students I might as was wondering how much it would cost to charge a laptop built over time it must mount up. I am not mean but do you think I should and if so how much would you charge a week. I have a student coming for 3 months soon and I want to stipulate this from the outset. Just to go towards electricity bill thanks

don't you just love hubbys, glad mine's not the only one who thinks completely changing his clothes after work is too difficult

He's being exceedingly considerate towards you. This way you only have to wash one set of his clothes, rather than two!

bWell many thanks for your replys !!, I know you say £100.00 a week but when you think you are getting a high standard house ! and nice food and my meals are all prepared fresh nothing processed , I would not even buy sausages and chips and that sort of thing as I am a bit of a health nut so I am afraid he is living with gillian Mc keith but not quite as bad ! broken down per night at less than £15.00 a night its not brilliant and even language school lady said they are putting it up next year so co - inside with cost of living going up all the time .. Anything else money saving I am good at but electricity I just glaze over I just know how much I pay and direct debit , I dont think its brilliant money , but it is the host family rate and yes it all helps but you couldnt stay in a b & B for that !. My council tax is £119. a month !.
I wasnt being mean but I generally didnt know how much electricity is for certain things electricity is not my area of expertice I am afraid and by the sounds of it it doesnt cost enough to warrant a charge
. My family and I sit down with the student and we all eat together every

evening at the table which is nice as we didnt always do that before so we have got into good habbits.,

:T :T Just for the record I was not whinging merely asking a question which I wanted some advice to good idea about charging him for gas and his meat well done and light bulb might ask him if he want s some bedtime extras while I am it :rotfl: :T n
