Later..I just joined the vm forum page to see if I could get some tips and someone who works for vm answered and said if I wanted to leave I should let them know 30 days before contract ends. I didn't know that and there is nothing in my original paperwork that says that. i'm only a few weeks away from it ending so i'm within the 30 days. does anyone know if that means i'm tied into a contract or have to pay an exit fee now? I was assuming that once it ended, that was my way out if I chose it. Thanks.
You have a minimum term that is usually around 12-18 months dependent on items you subscribe to.
After that minimum term you are allowed to cancel, but you have to provide 30 days notice to do so.
When you call them you ask to cancel, they will then disconnect you after 30 days (you pay for this 30 day period).
Lets be clear, you are ALWAYS in a contract with Virgin Media, its just that you have a minimum term to complete - if you leave before the minimum term then you have to pay to do so.0 -

I've got fed up with saying "If you think I owe you money take me to court and let a District Judge sort it out". All they do is change debt collectors lol
All I'll say...this won't end well for you...donfanatico wrote: »Call retentions, option 5 then 3 (or 2) cant remember. they have the power to apply all sorts of loyalty discounts, 3 month/6 month deals off. I've only got 100Mb BB, TV M+ and phone M and pay 27.99 (just checked my account,it's actually 24.99) a month (yes, including phone line rental)
Ypou may need to take a new 12 month contract which may or may not be a problem for you, depends where and how you live, and the discounts may not apply for the whole of the minimum term, but you can call back befor eth dicsounts expire and they will extend depending on the circumstances, YMMW.
Give them a ring (only MOn to Fri 9-5 as otherwise youwill go through to offshore support which are useless)
Uhh I have been with them 11 or so years, cancelled 5 or so times, I know exactly what to do - I have a £119 (or something) a month bundle I pay £89 for
Last time they called me back to retain the woman asked me if I had previously worked for them as I knew so much about what she could offer
- Calling them does NOT get the best discounts, you have to call them, cancel and wait for them to call you. The outbound retentions have far more to offer IME.
The issue was your flippant comment of you could halve that. It never happens when large subs are involved.0 -

That sounds like a good strategy except what do you do without everything - tv, bb and phone. I wouldn't want to be just left high and dry. I hate dealing with them and haggling.0 -
It's not difficult, seriously! Just talk to rententions and express what you want, no need to argue or anything just talk normallyThat sounds like a good strategy except what do you do without everything - tv, bb and phone. If you 'cancel' you have 30 days notice. If they don't offer you a deal you like you cancel and try again...you will never normally get to the point of disconnection...they normally call before then...
Good luck!0
