Hello good people of MSE - I have just received my offer and have today instructed sols - I was wondering if anyone had any idea how long it would take til exchange (we are selling a property, but this is to FTB'ers:D and property we are buying has no chain:j ).
I am hoping to complete by the end of Aug / start of Sept - what are my chances?

We had our mortgage offer about three weeks ago now, we are selling to FTB and buying a newbuid. We have come to a standstill at the moment as our buyer needs to take some documentation into his sol's but for some reason hasn't, it just seems to go on forever.0

Exactly 31 days from offer accepted to keys in my paw. Helped that there was no chain but it IS possible.
Good luck

The whole process is frustratingly slow. We accepted an offer 6 weeks ago and put an offer in on another house. We are waiting for the searches to be done at the moment and two weeks ago the solicitor said it would take two weeks. I rang again yesterday and she said another 2-3 weeks!!! What takes so long??? We are hoping we can move by the end of July but obviously don't know yet.
I wish they could make moving house a bit quicker and easier because its so stressful!0 -
I used my powers
Oh and incidently, there were no estate agents involved, it was a private sale. Coincidence? nah.0 -
The first time we bought as FTB's took 7 weeks from offer acceptance to being in the house, there was a bit of an upper chain as well!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 492 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0

Bought ours from beneficiaries - house empty. We were first time buyers in rented accommodation so no delay there & it still took 12 weeks from offer to completion. Someone I work with in the same position (16 years later) it has also taken them 12/13 weeks so no change really.
