    Hi everyone.

Just out of interest, how do you all count your comps?

I was using the good old tally chart with pen and paper, until I got myself a little finger tally counter off ebay. Ok, yes I'm sad lol, but it is so easy.

    Small things.... lol
Started comping Feb 2015 - Wins to date:
2015 - Celebrity Slim bundle - Stabilo Pens - Family SeaLife Pass - £50 Lidl voucher - Book - Family Geronimo ticket - FYEO photo shoot - £25 cash

    I do not count :-)

I gave it up many years back.
My style now is to just enter & forget.
If it comes back as a win that is great but if not there is no harm done.

Personally I see counting as a bad thing as many will be put off when they see the low entry to win rato that most wll encounter.

Good luck with your counting though.

I agree, I think if I was counting I would have given up a long time ago :/

I downloaded a clicker app to my phone but i'm finding using a pen & paper tally chart easier as I kept forgetting to press click. :o

Counting obviously affects different folks in different ways...

As above some enter and forget

I have had several PMs from people saying they like counting their comp entries as it gives them an incentive to do more.

When I suggested stopping the monthly challenge once we had entered 1 million comps, several folks asked me to keep it going and said if it did stop they would still keep counting.

As I have always said we all comp differently but we all aim for the same goal. ;)

In answer to your question I just use a good auld fashioned notebook and pen to keep count :)

I don't count how many I enter but i have the Tab counter add on for firefox to see how many tabs i have open at once so you could use that it would probably be easier.

I didn't count at first, but then I started to, as it helped me see if I was doing more or less than average (my average, not anyone else's) compared to how it felt (labourious or quick and easy). Not sure if that makes sense! I'm the sort of person who has a thermometer on my clock in the room with me, so that if I feel warm or cold, I can look at what the actual temperature is, to rationalise if it's "just me" or not......ok now I feel like I'll still not communicating my point! I give up...it's clearly past my bedtime! :D

    Anyway....

I use a counter app on my phone - very easy, I enter comps with my right hand and touch the counter with my left hand, it becomes subconscious eventually!

I find it particularly "comforting" (not really quite the right word) when doing the c2w since I don't enter all of them, but I do tend to enter the same ones each day (I do one prize at a time, rather than one website at a time). The total number doesn't vary by much generally so I can easily see how close to finishing I am. At the moment I'm doing about 250-300, so if I find myself a bit bored and I see I'm only on 100, then I leave them for a bit and come back later, but if I find myself a bit bored at 230-250 then I know there's not many left and I happily finish them off.

I guess whether you count or not is as individual as is what order you do things each day, how you sort/search comps on the board, what type of entry method you prefer the most etc. - we all have different approaches and there's really no right or wrong way to do things :)

I'm not really sure what this is, I'm assuming it counts all the tabs you have open ... but I assume you don't open every competition in a new tab and leave it open?

Every tab you have open will take up a bit of memory, so eventually if you have too many open it will slow your computer down / just crash it completely. If this is what you are actually doing then it might be worth picking up one of the other techniques discussed and using that, as everything will load a load faster if you're not over using your available memory and in the long run you'll have more time to enter more comps. (I hope that makes sense ... I'm not sure exactly how you're using the "tab counter")

I have a tab counter too and a no double tabs and ad blocker

That is exactly how I comp I can have 800 plus tabs open on a morning, and I close them off during the day as I enter/delete them.

I only have 3 tabs open at the moment so I know it is almost bedtime (or more probably time to watch The Mentalist) ;)
