And being scared by an invoice? Really? Goodness.

People are scared by them everyday - a quick glance at the Parking board will make that abundantly clear. ;)

Well everyone eBay started out by saying they were not going to allow the following items to be listed: Important news* Did you know ebay will NOT be selling tarot readings, psychic readings, reiki, metaphysical jewelry, spells, magic, healing, blessing services**+++++ anymore!! As of September 1st!"

But with a name like spellkaster you surely allready know this?

Shocked maybe! Scared is a tad dramatic.
In their later message they are trying to sell you further goods- it's clearly some kind of sales pitch
  • Peachyprice I just wanted to make paypal aware of the issue in case these people did try to take monies from my account!!

Thanks for all the replies though, I feel less scared this morning, just bloody annoyed now!!

This was in no way in relation to a so called purchase made through ebay, it quite clearly was a scam to get money via fraud.

I am glad I spoted it when it came in so quick, the fact it states "Hi Chris" in the receipient they wont have a leg to stand on to claim monies as it was clearly meant for someone else!!

I do think asking people to send large sums of money could make someone a billionaire..

PayPal isn't like your typical merchant account gateway - they would have no way of charging any money to your PayPal account.
The invoice system on PayPal is merely a tool of convenience for sellers. But as far as actually getting the money is concerned you have to go through PayPal checkout as normal. It's would be as equivalent and safe as sending you an invoice in the post.

Personally I don't see it as a scam or fraud, more likely an administrative mess up.

They can't take money from your account just by sending you an invoice. It's not how Paypal works.

You contacted the sender so they now know your email address is valid and used and is the one you use for Paypal.

Change your email address if i were you. If you had not replied then there would be no need to change it.
