I'd go with the Manager's idea re chucking it down the stairs. You won't see a rise in your premiums at all and will get a shiny new iPad.

OP what is the exact error? You say error 1? What does it say under more information?

Heres something to try

1. Create another windows user account on your PC
2. Log into this account
3. Right click iTunes and run as administrator
4. Put the device into DFU mode and attempt a restore

If it still fails then post the restore log, its found under program files \apple etc....

You could also try using recovery fix or tiny umbrella to kick the iPad out of a stuck restore state

Done everything you said and still got the same error I posted earlier, when clicking more info it just took me to here

Or maybe steal one from a shop which will also get you a nice shiny new iPad?
