I look old and ill

Had to get passport photo's done today for my new Blue Badge.

Obviously I see myself in the mirror everyday but looking at the passport photo's I look really old, and I look very gaunt.

I have a few medical issues, chronic pain, depression, mobility issues, a lack of sleep (3-4 hours per night for the past 4 years or so).

It might be the quality of the picture but my skin looks kind of yellow.

For someone in their early/mid 30's it's not a great look.

  • Those photos are really unflattering-I recently had one taken and felt old and depressed when I saw it.I am sure you look better in real life but have to admit mine really got me down!

What you need is a colour corrective primer. I think its the lavender colour that will neutralize the yellow.

I know that Smashbox do colour corrective primers and I'm pretty sure Clinique do too.

Just checked Elf cosmetics do a lavender primer too.

I've yet to see someone who looks stunning in their passport photo so don't worry! Having said that it might be time to invest in a corrective primer, a good quality foundation and a cc cream (it's a colour corrective cream a bit like a foundation but with slightly less coverage). It'd also be useful to find a blush that enhances your skin tone.

See you doctor to make sure that there are no other health issues causing this. Then, get your hair done, full make-up (get advice from a professional if necessary) and have your picture taken again. Most of us (myself included) drag ourselves into photo booths usually while out shopping, with kids in tow and rushing around doing a million and one things, to get our passport pictures done and then wonder why they are so unflattering.

Pretty sure from previous posts that OP is male - so make up tips may be less useful.

In answer to the original post... we all age... that's life. Passport photos are rarely flattering for anyone. No one will be looking at the badge photo anyway.

    Yep, this is true.

I've just had some done, and I look like I'm about to drop even though I'm in good health and feeling better than ever.

If we all looked like our passport photos, none of us would ever leave the house, don't let it worry you too much!

That's a lot of time and money wasted on a tiny photograph that just gets glanced at by airport staff a few times a year! Does it really matter if its not flattering? Its not like they're getting framed and going on the wall!

I think the pictures are often bad because you aren't supposed to smile. Where a normal picture might have a friendly grin or a twinkle in your eye, I find passport pictures all look dead-eyed and grim.

I got mine last week, and for a 39 year old woman, I looked frighteningly like Bernard Manning.
