Anyone received their £12 Government Electricity Rebate from Extra Energy for this winter?
In the end due to me stopping the DD and demanding back what they took (which was about double the agreed monthly amount), I ended up owing them around £200. I had the joke 'First bill' (actually your final bill) which I had worked out for myself on spreadsheets as more or less the same figure, and a cheery note on the bill said they would be taking this by DD but as I had blocked them I simply did an on-line payment through their site which, surprise surprise worked!
Lesson learnt here.0 -
Having read the horror stories all over the net about these folks I'm prepared for a battle. I joined them from EDF and found EDF still taking direct debits (I normally cancel them but forgot this one) as were Extraenergy too. Range EDF to tell them off, but they went onto the central database and said there's definitely not a request there for a supplier change nor information from Extraenergy of one. By chance got an Extraenergy bill next day showing 3x £34 direct debits, then a demand for £200+ for less than 20 days electricity since the most recent.....Then I also noticed the meter serial number is not mine! so it *looks* like they've just gone and started billing me a random amount without even knowing if the transfer went through. So I quickly cancelled the DD so they couldn't take the fictional £200+ owed. Rang them but they said they are shut - yet oddly had been open enough to send me a bill. Anyway, sent a message advising them of the issue and asking for a refund within 7 days or the matter will be referred to the small claims court. I also advised them they had broken the contract between us by billing me for someone else's meter and trying to obtain £200+ not due to them.... and clearly they are absolutely NOT suitable people to do business with, so our contract is null and void as they've breached it. So far all I've had is an automated email a few days later asking why I'd cancelled my direct debit. So, we'll see if they are daft enough to think everyone is a walk over. I have learned that the only way to deal with firms who take money you do not owe and then ignore the issue is to give them one chance to pay it back then commence small claims action. Giving them repeated chances just lets them laugh at you longer and string you along. Generally companies KNOW when they are in the wrong but often it seems as if they simply don't care as "what can a little customer do"? Well, sometimes they can pick the wrong guy. I wish everyone would use the small claims to deal with companies like this. The process is really easy, it's nothing like a court in the sense you are used to, and they work hard to actually solve the issues (so it's not about who can afford the best solicitor like "normal" courts are - you usually don't need one) . When in the wrong, firms really, really don't like to go to the small claims court!0

A problem with EE is that your online statement can change from day to day without explanation.0 -
Just had Ombudsman uphold 2 complaints, one for me for gas and one for OH about electricity. They were told to apply £100 compensation for each account. I can't wait to move away from the worst company in the world0

Finally got my refund and it's only taken 132 days.0

We migrated away from EE on 16 October - I estimate that we are due a refund in the region of £170.
Having waited patently for in the hope that EE would automatically issue a final bill and refund the balance (I know..!), I would like to now escalate this.
Could someone tell me the best/most effective way to do this please?
Cheers

I was with this company last year and having just done a comparison they have come up the cheapest again. I did find they increased my DD in order to keep my account balanced but they were happy to reduce it again when I asked. No complaints and signed up for another year.0
