Apparently the computer that generates the bills is not linked to the one that creates the refunds. Another day another load of rubbish.
This Company dispels the myth that German businesses are superior to the rest of the world.
This is page 126, by coincidence the same number of days since my contract with EE ended.0 -
Extra Energy supplied my gas and electric after they gave me great quotes, but I believe this was a sales gimmick. I gave monthly readings but despite this when I received a better quote through GB Energy I was alarmed that I owed Extra Energy more than the equivalent of 3 months payments. I did change and am repaying Extra Energy as and when I can afford. In addition they are very poor at providing up to date bills and do not answer e-mails. Very poor customer service.0

Hi, my first post here, to thank you guys who've set me straight about Extra Energy. The Energy Saving club offered them up as the cheapest company to switch to, so I tried to. I have never been knocked back by anyone for any financial dealing, so imagine my surprise when I received an email saying that due to a credit check, they could only proceed on the basis that I paid a security deposit of £240 to proceed with the switch. Imagine my further surprise when I received an identical email from them seconds later, with the "security deposit" upped to £250! That's when I turned to the trusty MSE forum to see how others have fared with Extra Energy. With all the threats of legal action being talked about here, I can see why they're trying to build up a "fighting fund"! Needless to say, I've told them where to stick their switch!0

Speaking as an ex customer of Extra Energy they did you a favour.0 -

I agree with MABLE but I do suggest you check your credit history for errors. This is not a company that rejects easy money. It likes to grab as much as it can and then hang on to overpayments for as long as possible.0 -
My daughter received a bill today. Due about now. Billed to 21st. Used an estimated read for tariff change but worked in her favour. Still in debit but DD reduced so not all bad.0

The advantage of owing them money is that when you leave you pay what you owe and job done. If the boot is on the other foot then you get your money when they feel like giving it to you.0

Whoopee! :j
After following youravinalarrrf's excellent advice in mid December, and 10 days after getting my final (or "First" as Extra Energy call it) bill, I've just received my small refund plus £25 compensation in my bank account.
Interestingly, I cancelled my DD about 4-5 months ago but the payment still manged to find my account. I've often read before that if you cancel you DD they can't then make a payment back to your account but, as I thought, this seems to be rubbish (probably just aimed at trying to prevent customers cancelling their DDs).
Oh to be free of them - feels quite liberating after so much misery over so long! Excellent end to 2015!
PS Moved 3 months ago to Ovo and now enjoying the wonderful experience of regular monthly bills and good customer service etc. - just as energy companies should be! After 18+ months of Extra Energy, I'd forgotten what it was like!0 -

So, letter before action it is! I will write it on Sunday and issue it to them on the Monday as the next official working day. Lets see if a letter before action gets me my money? Will they let me get as far as filling to the County Court?
Have a great Christmas everyone and don't let the bar-stewards drag you down.
So, a few days after I planned (being Christmas and all) I sat down this morning to write my letter before action. I thought I would just double check our bank account, just in case, but I was still expecting to find no refund payment from EE.
To my astonishment, Extra Energy had refunded my money directly into my account yesterday (30th December)! So, no letter before action required, the money was still 7 days later than promised, but if has been returned and it is the correct amount.
My advice guys is just keep going, in the end they did pay-up, but please, please, anyone reading this who is thinking about switching to Extra Energy... don't! The savings are really not worth the stress!0 -
Incidentally, having left them in September I calculated that I'd owe them a small balance.
I've still recieved no communications of any description, and certainly nothing even resembling a bill.
I'll continue ignoring them, perfectly happy with that situation
They may catch up and decide to chase me for the cash at some stage, but quite when I have no idea.
