The Morrisons self checkouts are a nightmare, the way they are positioned.
Tesco/Asda/Sainsbos, all the same to meThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Used a Tesco self scan yesterday.Noticed that it will only allow customers to do 2 coupons themselves - any additional ones, the assistant has to be there to ok them.
In my booklet of coupons I received in the post, I used 4 coupons - 2 MOCs and 2 bonus points. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Tesco and Sainsburys are generally good although occasionally have problems with any vouchers. Morrisons self service is a nightmare and have always have some problem, where a member of staff has had to come and clear. Wherever yo go if you buy any alochol you have to wait for a member of staff to come an authorise. A real nuisance if you purchasing a wine offer when there is more than one bottle involved, as staff are reluctant to stay whilst you scan each bottle so they come backwards and forwards. Nowadays if buying wine (which is not every visit!!) I will go to a "Manned" checkout.
You just to need to ignore the 'approval needed' things until you have finished scanningThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The one that consistently irritates me is....
And another one that rattles my cage is:
When I press "Finish & Pay" then "Pay by Card" my card is halfway into the reader before it says "Please select payment method". Just before I press "Pay by Card" for a second time, it then says "Please Insert Card in Reader".
We have microprocessors that are clocked at GHz these days, but they can't acknowledge a button press in less that 3-4 seconds. :mad:0 -

.1. They need to sort out their menus of fruit, veg, etc. I often see customers asking the assistant where onions, Bramley apples, baking potatoes and loose rolls are. One colleague who I speak to a lot, pointed out of the 20 items on the popular items list - (the first screen when you press look up item), the store does not sell 6 of them! Also how many customers would think to look under E for their satsumas called Easy Peelers?
This should be sorted now, there was a PLU update last weekend. Every store was also suppose to go through the PLU in the back office and remove/ put as not for sale for all items not sold in that store.0 -
My local Waitrose has introduced them now. But while there's a large number of them, every single one is "card only". Doesn't seem to have done much to help the checkout queues, either people just don't like them or, like me, plenty of Waitrose customers pay with cash.0

I find it easier to pack at the end otherwise get the bagging error message.
Am pleased with myself getting through Morrisons a few times with no help needed.0 -
I find Morrisons are stupidly designed, and it's impossible to stand where you can reach your basket and the packing bit at the same time. So I have to pick the item out of the basket, scan it, walk three steps to packing area, and repeat. Which is annoying and takes longer.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Indeed, Morrisons have easily the worst-designed self-service tills in the country. The distance between the scanning and packing areas is ridiculous, the different parts of the till (for putting in cash etc) are very poorly marked up, and the tills complain incessantly about every little thing.
Poor poor design, I avoid them like the plague. But as Morrisons check-out staff are even slower, I simply avoid Morrisons altogether, even though they are the closest supermarket to where I work.0
