Those people who live in 4G areas or are happy with the 3G service?====0 -
Are we supposed to be grateful to 3 for being able to use Personal Hotspot from now on? It never made any difference to them how a fixed allowance of data was consumed.
OP your thread title was out of date within hours!0 -
Wow inclusive (free) freephone calls if you take out a contract. https://www.giffgaff.com have been offering this for a while on payg.0

I get unlimited 08xx calls with my contract on EE 4G so this is a non story.
(yes, ALL 08xx numbers)I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
Do u mean 0871 numbers too?? What tariff r u on ?? Must be old but never heard unlimited..0

From the 13/6/14, it will be illegal for companies to use 084x, 087x and 09 numbers) for their customer service lines.(The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 passed on 13/12/2013).
So after that date you should be able to call them anyway out of inclusive minutes. Thus reducing the need to call 084x,087x numbers substantially.
A fair few companies and govt depts have already switched to alternative 03 numbers.0 -
Unltd tethering still available to new sim only one plan. From the 3 blog mod. 'Hi. Just to clarify, there have been no changes to our Sim Only plans. So the One Plan Sim Only will still come with unlimited tethering.'0

@Alan C – Hi there, none of the Sim Only plans include the 0800 numbers. The website has now been updated to reflect this."

Three really are turning this whole episode into a farce. What a mess.====0 -
I'm on unlimited internet 300 for £26 p/m (300 mins, 5000 texts, unlimited data but no tethering). I occasionally go over my call allowance but not often, often call freephone numbers but use 0800 wizard so it comes out of my allowance, call 084x/087x on rare occasions when necessary and use a fraction of my texts. I make the occasional call to voicemail. I also bypass the tethering block for browsing and email when I need to, although it's not a great experience.
Looking at their new tariff it seemed to offer the same basic allowances and out of bundle costs, plus the free 0800 calls (so no longer coming out of my bundle), cheaper 084x/087x calls and 2GB personal hotspot (no more faffing about bypassing their block). On the face of it that looked excellent so I thought I'd give them a call to find out if I could transfer and if there was a catch.
Apparently I could only switch to their top tariff at £33 p/m (£7 increase) with unlimited data, calls and texts (although I take that with a pinch of salt, he may have been trying to upsell me).
The big catch is apparently voicemail calls no longer come out of your bundle - at 35ppm and a 1 minute minimum charge just a few calls to voicemail a month would soon mount up.
With the voicemail charges and line rental increase I estimate my bill would go up around £8-£10 p/m. That seems a lot for very little gain - if I was going to shell out that much, for an extra couple of quid a month on top I'd be better off getting a second sim only contract with unlimited tethering. Needless to say I gave it a miss.0
