Hi posting here rather than starting new thread as this seems very active. I need advice I have totally messed up I missed deferring despite being way below the threshold, now I have received a massive pack of letters from Erudio "Remedy of Account"

I would really struggle to afford £155 a month - I'm wondering where is best to seek advice? / what my options are.

    These are old (1994-98 loans)

    Hi,

For the last 4 years I haven't been able to work and have been living with my parents. I haven't been receiving any financial contributions at all, either from parents or the state. Just living under my parents roof and sharing their food.

So I've been sending erudio a letter signed by my parent confirming this. This has been previously acceptable. But this year, they haven't accepted this as deferment proof. They want a bank statement showing myself receiving some sort of financial payment as support. But the support is entirely non-numerical.

I'm just unsure how to proceed, other than again clearly stating my circumstances. But what if they won't accept this. Any ideas? It's quite worrying as I'm still at a low point, and can't afford any payments.

How long has it been since you acknowledged the debt in any way? If it's fairly recent then you'll need to pay off the arrears asap as Erudio seem to be inclined to recall the whole loan from people who are behind. I'm guessing that's not the stage you're at yet?

I'd raise a formal complaint with Erudio if they've previously accepted this evidence and are now refusing to. However, a bank statement showing no financial support should be easy enough to provide if you're not receiving any.
  • Thanks for the reply lungboy. I'll do as you sensibly suggest: bank statements followed by formal complaint if waranted. Thanks again.

Make sure you blank out any account numbers or anything thing that isn’t relevant to showing income. They don’t need to know what you spend your money on. They just need to see income you get is below threshold.

    .

2 years at least though might be longer. Last time I deferred, though I'm not actually sure I was successful that time... I'm suspecting not since I dont know how I'd have missed years worth of deferral forms.

You can only pay what you can afford. I'm guessing the documents they sent you include an income and expenditure form. Make sure you fill that out to show you can't afford to pay back more than you really can.

Hi all, back again after having received a settlement offer from Erudio. Just wondering, has anyone reached the 25 year cancellation right/turned 50 and had their loans cancelled?

Just wondering what the process is, and if it affects our credit score. It's looking like accepting the settlement offer will affect our credit score as they'll pass that onto the credit companies as a partial payment. So trying to decide on the best course of action here based on, if both affect my credit score, which is the least worst?

Does anyone know how long these types of marks on your credit record last, or the impact of them?

Hi there, not sure if you could help me but I have just received a letter from Dryden on behalf of Erudio with a claim to be settled in northampton County court. I have not received any deferment forms from Erudio and only one letter a while ago telling me they were taking over my loan. I asked for deferment forms and did not receive any. I am not sure how to proceed with my response to the claim. I cannot afford to pay back my loan, but I do not want to start paying off a claim as I am 50 in 2 years and my student loan will be discarded then... What is the worse that could happen if I do nothing and the claim is upheld against me?

You need to respond to the claim otherwise they will get a CCJ
