Surely they will have someone monitoring threads like this. Hopefully they are bright enough to realise that the first person that reports a negative effect on their credit report will signal the end of paying off a percentage when someone can still defer. Unless your credit report is shot already, then it may be worth it.
  • I just checked my credit score. I last looked 2 weeks ago as I'm a couple of weeks away from exchange and completion on a property purchase so was checking for my mortgage application and it has decreased by 92 points and gone from Good to Fair.

Ignore your score it is only to scare you into paying for a product to improve it (& at it's best can only warn you there has been a change) -that is what the CRAs business is. Just check the actual credit report.
  • Thanks @badmemory

My mortgage offer was processed before the change and they've offered in full so I'm less worried now.

I've now had a settlement letter, offering almost £3k knocked off. Not nearly enough to interest me as I'm waaaay below the deferment threshold and likely to be forever. They'd have to get close to what they paid for the loans (can anyone remember what that was ? For some reason 15p in the pound rings a bell) for me to seriously consider it.

e: £160m for £890m of loans, so my shoddy maths suggests that's 18p per pound.
  • I read on the consumer forum it was 5p per £1.

For some reason I have 11p in the £ stuck in my head (not that that means very much!).
  • I went to pull all my paperwork from storage yesterday (currently homeless so all my stuff in storage) and the first letter from Erudio is there, dated 27/11/15 saying some interesting things about being unable to send statutory notices. Think this will strengthen my case with FOS as I can pretty much prove that they let 'arrears'of £2517.20 build up before contacting me.

    This lot are a disgrace.
