ERUDIO student loans help

Has anyone else successfully had their loans deferred recently by sending in their self-assessment tax return? I've had a letter today saying I need to send in copies of my interest statements, despite their own guide indicating that this isn't necessary (at least that's how I interpreted it). Same happened last year when they asked for payslips from employment but this was challenged via email on the same basis and they replied to say they were wrong and my deferral was confirmed.
Thanks as always for all the updates in this thread.0 -

Quote their email from last year back to them and send off a complaint to the FOS about their bullying DCA tactics = compensation:)0 -
19 decisions about Erudio with the FOS.
http://www.ombudsman-decisions.org.uk/
They are about two grand down for bad customer service and generally being called out on their DCA tactics.
Tis pity the FOS are refusing to RULE on the DAF issue: its a business/commercial decison, nothing wrong with it etc (well except when ERUDIO THEMSELVES admit to the FOS that parts of it go outside the original terms ) - Incredible abnegation of DUTY by the FOS there as I am sure you will agree.
So keep complaining folks
I have read a handful of those and am now starting to feel angry. The FOS are a joke. They must have a template doing the rounds because alot of the same sh*te is being pumped out and they clearly have a warped sense of fairness. No wonder Erudio are so happy for us to run to them.Paying for uni to get a job... just to get a job to pay for uni0 -

IS ANYONE ON MSE FORUM TEAM STILL FOLLOWING THIS CATELOG OF INJUSTICE. MAYBE A FOLLOW UP STORY ABOUT THE ABYSMAL FAILINGS OF THE FOS AND THEIR JOKE CONTRADICTORY RULINGS?
I mean they have erudio admitting some of the DAF conditions go outside the original agreement (oh you can delete the bits we have been caught out on!! stunning!!) but because the DAF is a commercial decision for Erudio HEY thats okay then. I mean WT absolute F ?
I mean would anyone,ANYONE sign a financial document that was not clear and explicit in its terms and conditions? Yet we are meant to do so because ESL bought our loans for buttons?
I know CAPS is poor etiquette but jesus H there is some p1ss poor logic/rulings/findings in their decisions. AND yes they do all seem to singing off the same template re any challenge to the signing of the DAF. Indeed many rulings sidestep or do not address the DAF issues...
Can you do a FOI for any info/memos/documents about Erudio and how the FOS are dealing with them?0 -

Since I haven't had a statement since Sept 13 (from the SLC) I'm not sure when my next one should be due. As Erudio acquired my loan in March 14 should this mean my statement date should change, or should they stick to the Sept date. In which case I'll probably be going through this whole charade at the end of next month when my next statement doesn't appear.
All lenders are required by law (CCA 2006?) to provide an annual statement to the borrower, I'd have thought the deferment process, whether it's one year or three years, is a separate legal issue and wouldn't mean Erudio's exempt from their obligations under the CCA?
You should receive an annual statement at the same time as every other borrower - around September each year, covering the previous year to 31 August. Just don't expect the annual statement (if you ever get one!) to be accurate - they will understate the interest due, combine all of your loans into one, get the interest rate/monthly repayment amount/date of the agreement wrong... it's almost like they're trying to create a completely new agreement (maybe that's the plan, if they have no power to change things under the original t&c's).
The fact that neither Erudio nor FOS are capable of providing the large print that you need is beyond belief - they clearly don't live in the real world! I hope you destroy them on that one Gardenia, you have every right to.
My second FOS complaint, on all of the above errors in the annual statement, was escalated by the adjudicator to the ombudsman last week, because Erudio didn't bother their @rse to reply to my conditional acceptance (that I'm ok with Erudio not providing an accurate statement, if they confirm in writing that the agreements are unenforceable and that no interest can be applied to my loans until I get a correct statement). They were never going to agree to that, but why leave it 6+ weeks to not reply (with the adjudicator supposedly chasing for a response)? The fact Erudio's willing to show such complete contempt for the FOS process suggests to me they already know what the outcome will be. Either that, or it really is a case of one Erudio monkey sees, other Erudio monkey doesn't do (anything). I give up on trying to figure out what they're playing at, but think it's probably a misplaced sense of entitlement (motivated by profit), disguised as incompetence. Will be interesting to see if the ombudsman even comments on Erudio ignoring them.
@ plong979 I got a cheque from Arrow Global (Erudio only exists on paper so might be difficult to physically sign a cheque) to pay the compensation for my first FOS complaint, it arrived the day before FOS's time limit. But the FOS decision also said they should give me true copies of the loan agreements, they still haven't complied with that part two months later (or 15 months since I first asked for the agreements). Erudio included a letter with the cheque, saying (again) they were waiting for SLC to give them proper copies - again. I've already had 3 sets of copies, months ago, that don't match with the originals. It seems Erudio either can't (completely illegible copies/can't be entrusted with/aren't entitled to the originals) or won't (just because they're nasty, or there's some legal advantage/prohibition... possibly a mix) give out true copies. Why are they so reluctant to answer what should be a pretty basic request?0 -
I'm glad I understated the threshold, the higher the better I reckon
Still going to try and fathom the calculation - I need a new smiley symbol for 'tin foil hat'0 -

Can people reapply for deferment if they are below the new deferment level if they are in already into their yearly deferment period? Or does it only apply at the time you apply for deferment?0

My ex doesn't care. If it doesn't affect t him or he can't see the effects of it it doesn't exist. I asked for half uniform costs this year oh and half my daughters trip costs. So far he has ignored those emails.
He sounds like a bit of an idiot - for all the issues my ex & I have had over the years he wants every penny of HIS money to go to HIS children, as do the few other divorced parents I've spoken to about Erudio's shenanigans.
Is there a way around this by giving him bank details for your child & getting him to put maintenance into that without him actually realising it's not your sole account? I'm a trustee on DD's account as she is 15, but she controls the card & account. For us it works OK as she takes the cash out to pay for school dinners/bus passes/Guides etc so it gives her a vague idea of how much things cost. Of course it all falls down when she loses the card (now on issue 4 :rotfl:)
Not sure how this may be seen from a benefits point of view though - it doesn't affect tax credits but as I don't claim anything else I don't know if it might look slightly dodgy.19 decisions about Erudio with the FOS.

+1 for my complaint that isn't showing up there.
Probably + 1 for my next complaint.....BorderReiver14 wrote: »I have read a handful of those and am now starting to feel angry. The FOS are a joke. Yep, FOS are powerless aren't they? I know I bang on about large print but that sums up FOS's inability to actually DO anything. Its possibly the only issue that has absolute clarity in law (as in Erudio can't interpret it's meaning, it is something they have to do). Yet Erudio can consistently ignore it & FOS can do nothing but wring their hands & be satisfied that because Erudio say they've sent them, then they must have done.
Honestly, do FOS think I'm sitting on all the large print statements that Erudio say they've sent & complaining just for a laugh :wall:And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -
hi can anyone remember what the time limit is on the loans. I know when we took them out they were supposed to be no longer due after you reach a certain age/ have had the loan a certain time. I can't recall what that is. I also can't see it any where on the Erudio website.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0
