  • So that current £26k threshold is incorrect? I was under the impression that this was a legitimate change to the deferment threshold?
  • I thought it was set on the average earnings for last year but those figures were skewed because of the various economy mess ups.

I can't believe how much misinformation there is. Nobody seems to know where they stand on this. Looks like I'll be holding on to my cash a while longer and I will be writing a complaint too.

In my mind good customer service would have been Erudio sending a letter to customers explaining the deferment threshold changed before sending out their deferment packs.

I'd expect a nursery school class could run Erudio better. Absolute shambles. So many questions, discrepancies and misinformation. Absolutely shocking.

That £26,727 threshold is perfectly correct for this year. Set by BIS and binding on Erudio.

In most places that is what they are correctly stating.

Erudio have simply been quoting the old defunct 1997 regulations in response to complaints by people on other issues. Those regulations just happen to quote the old threshold back as it was then when it was set in those regulations.

I understood that the deferment threshold was set by BIS though? The deferment threshold has gone down before although not to the whopping £2k it's gone down this year.

The threshold is set by the ONS data. The threshold will go up this year.

Pis poor stuff again by £rudio quoting the wrong threshold ESPECIALLY after being told off about it and it being reported to MSE.

But they are a DCA in all but name so no real shocker to myself. HOWEVER many thousands of graduates will be taken in by their dubious LEGITIMACY as the company who should be handling the deferment process of their student loans.

    You are not a customer!

    You are a:

    A cash cow

    Victim

    Sucker

    Etc
Erudio are a DCA in command of the deferment process.

A bit like a vampire in charge of a blood bank.

Or the Tory party in charge of public services :)

If you don't settle then I would highly recommend you set aside an hour or two to read the previous 200 pages because if you are going to be dealing with Erudio for some time to come, it will be the best couple of hours ever spent. There are people here who have been quoted wrong regulations, figures, told they were in deferment to find out later they weren't, folk that had direct debits stolen... At first many thought it was sheer incompetence but evidence may now point to bending of the rules, negligence, outright lies (you decide)... And then there is the whole sorry saga of how the government sold us out to a shell company... who bought our loans for peanuts (5p in the pound?) and outsourced its operations to debt collecting specialists sucking in thousands of unsuspecting people who's payments end up in the channel islands and ultimately the states... And the regulators who are meant to protect your agreements and original terms and conditions don't really seem to care. It is very interesting reading.

    Dear All

Just a quick enquiry here. Over the last two years I have noticed that the Student Loans Company has stopped sending me deferral forms. I receive a letter from Erudio and Thesis, who own the debts, in the weeks leading up to the end of the deferral period, telling me when the period ends, but then nothing until I receive a letter telling me I am in arrears.

I live overseas, and require good notice to make the deferral. They used to allow many months, but have now stopped sending the forms out. In the Credit Agreement I signed it clearly states they decide when the deferral period will be, and I feel the onus is on them to send the forms out. The Erudio letter promises a deferral form will be sent, but then they do not, while the Thesis letter makes no mention of it, which I feel is a failure to give me all the information I require to make the deferral. I feel they are deliberately trying to draw people into arrears by failing to send them all the necessary documents in time, and this is not acceptable practice.

    Any help gratefully received,
    Regards

If you have loans with both thesis and Erudio then SLC should have continued sending you a form, as they kept the responsibility for doing the deferment applications.

You should be complaining to them.
