Did they decline this deferment request in writing?

I doubt they would deny it in writing citing that reason, as they know that would not be a reason they could get away with if it went to the ombudsman or courts.

Interestingly, I received a letter in the post the other day offering me a credit card to build up my poor credit rating at stupid % APR. My credit score is perfect at the mo... I wonder how this credit card got my contact details................

I also get these regularly through the post. You do wonder sometimes.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Did they decline this deferment request in writing? If so, how long from when you sent the letter before you got written confirmation that they'd declined it?

They sent a letter saying something like there was insufficient information and enclosed a new form - in fact they are so organised that actually sent two letters!

I can't give you exact time scales as it is all written down at home but about a week from me phoning them (when they tried to deny I had sent them anything - you've gotta love recorded delivery :) )but they hadn't replied or acknowledged my letter for over a week before that.

I've just spoken to the lovely Erudio, not entirely convinced by the call handler however apparently my application was marked as incomplete because I didn't send a P60, only my three months wage slips. He said P60s are no longer required so he has processed my deferral and I should get a confirmation letter sent out.

I also asked about reporting accounts to CRAs he said that they only get reported if you fall 4 months in arrears and the account gets sent to a debt recovery agency. I've asked for a letter confirming this, I don't think for one minute I'll get one but I have the call handlers name who I spoke to, I'll be back on to them if I don't get it.

What is also annoying is my account has been sitting incomplete for at least a month with no one contacting me, obviously hoping I'll keep waiting until my current deferral runs out and then they start taking payments.

Their delays and errors are mightily 'convenient'.

  • Shouldn't deferment be done by an independent third party?
It seems ridiculous and a blatant conflict of interests to let erudio control deferment?????

A debt collector with a vested interest in having deferments refused is certainly not an appropriate choice.

Complain to the government who botched this. Complain to your MPs etc. Complain to the regulators. Thats about it.
