I've got 3 loans from 91/92/93 and deferred them up to April 2015.
Not had any letter or notice or anything saying they have been sold to anyone else. They are with Honours Student Loans.
Reading all the above I am so glad the 25 years is coming up when these loans can finally be wiped!0 -
you are lucky shaunyboy, even though HSL seems to be virtually the same company, it is still the student loans company conducting your deferment process. For us Erudiodites, we have to trust Erudio with all our info and that they will defer us...we are the guinea pigs for all future students in our wonderful country!0

I'm very concerned about the letter and form I've received from Erudio, as I was when I first heard that Student Loans were being sold off...
I'm in a slightly odd situation. My loans are from 1995-1999. I've deferred every year previously because I was below the repayment threshold. At one point SLC certainly had a DD for me, but it no longer shows on my bank account (via the website or if I phone to ask).
This year, for the first time, I'm earning over the threshold for repayment. Much as I have no desire to give money to a dodgy private company like Erudio, I recognise that I will have to start making payments according to the terms to which I agreed when taking out the loans.
My 'welcome' letter from Erudio doesn't make it clear whether a DD is in place, and doesn't give any repayment amounts (which information was always included in correspondence from SLC). I suspect they don't have DD information. I note that the letter suggests payment can be made by debit or credit card.
I'm not sure how to proceed. I certainly won't be filling out all the information on the form, which basically amounts to a phishing exercise by this debt collection agency. I wonder if I might attempt to make my monthly payments by card, thus avoiding breaching the terms (maybe?), and also avoiding supplying these villains with information...
My current plan is to make a formal complaint (on the grounds of failure to notify me of the DD amounts, and the other points made in this thread) and to remove any implied consent to information about me being supplied to any CRA....). This will - according to what others have said above, suspend everything for two months, after which time we might know more about the legality of all this...0 -
Been following this thread for a while, I have two student loans one sold to Thesis the other to Erudio, which the SLC eventually told me about (several months late), the funny thing is they keep sending out deferment notices for loans they don't own, I always reply and both loans according to the SLC are deferred until 2015, my bank currently have a future DD at the end of the month for the Erudio loan, will be interesting to see if it goes through especially considering Erudio have never written to me to either ask about deferment or about any possible repayments which they are required to do, will have to see what happens next(I assume lots of wasted time spent on the phone), I wonder if anybody has managed to defer the loan repayments with Erudio, if not I can see many complaints coming there way which is not a good way to start0

I never received any letter saying my loan had been sold nor did I receive a deferral form from Erudio. I did receive a deferral form from SLC that was to be sent to SLC and completed it. Received a reply dated 1st April saying my two loans with Thesis and one with Erudio had been successfully defered. Today Erudio took payment from my bank account via direct debit. Presumably DD details were given to them by SLC. Why did SLC say it's defered if they don't deal with deferment for Erudio anyway? Why did I not receive anything from Erudio? I'm rather worried.0

I've seen some people say that SLC will continue to do deferment on Erudios behalf when you also have loans with Thesis? Got on to your bank and claim the DD back as unauthorised or under the DD guarantee as it should not have been taken and you were not informed of it.Still rolling rolling rolling......

I will try that if Erudio don't give a satisfactory answer.
Thanks for the advice.0 -
Your bank MUST refund it IMMEDIATELY if you tell them it should never have been taken. They don't have a choice under the DD guarantee etc. No room for allowed for the bank to argue. Then its your responsibility to take up the issues that arose to the wrongful payment with the lender.Still rolling rolling rolling......

well heres another bombshell, the confirmation of the complaint letter that says collection activity will be suspended is not the same message the call centre staff have been told.
As such, anyone waiting for a complaint to be answered needs to contact them immediately because the deferment deadlines are fast approaching.
I also add that, based on my experience, you cannot rely on them sending out letters of confirmation for anything you have been promised. The one i was waiting for stating CRA s would not be informed of my loan, i found out, was cancelled internally and sent to the complaints department instead...all only found out weeks later when i went looking for an answer as to why the letter hasnt been sent out.
I was also directly told that all info will be passed onto CRAs and there is nothing anyone can do to change that.0
