hopefully they will look into what Erudio is as well and its history...its all online if one is prepared to look and piece together address and company numbers and the same names that seem to keep popping up!0

Not got a lot of faith in the BBC on this. I expect they will just repeat what Erudio tells them and go "that's all OK then".Still rolling rolling rolling......

hopefully he will get more time on the radio than that Breakfast show but at the very least he is shining a light on it. I suspect you will be right though, i very much doubt they have done research on it, other than taking a stance and phoning around for answers from Erudio, BIS and Experian.
He did get a quote from experian saying if you have a loan of upto 5000 it probably wont affect you negatively...i wonder how many have 3 loans that are above that. Which means, i guess, they will be negatively affected. Maybe he will have seen the inconsistency in that and highlight that it will negatively affect quote a few borrows if the loan info is placed on CRA databases. I doubt it but who knows...we will hear later.0 -
here it is from the you and yours website about the segment and how it is framed:
The government has sold loans taken out by students between 1990 and 1998 to a debt collector; what's changed and should graduates who still owe money be worried.
Maybe people could phone in if they have a contact number and a little free time before the show in just over an hour.0 -
Just checked with my bank this morning, I don't currently have a DD set up to pay anything back (i did set one up when first taking out the first of my two loans in 1991, as I think was a condition of getting the loan).
I've still got the same bank current A/C now and, as such, I've not avoided/evaded anything. I'm entitled to a deferment as my income is way below the pre-98 threshold, but due to inefficiency at SLC (my loans are with thesis), my deferment hasn't been processed in time - and I suspect I might be asked for a months payment until it is sorted (it's not actually Thesis' fault the SLC haven't processed my deferment, nor is it mine).
As such, if Thesis Servicing come to me and say, "give us your DD details", am I on a sticky wicket refusing (regarding my voilating the T&Cs of the loan agreement) and saying to them, "SLC should have provided it to you, it's the same A/C as I had 20+ years ago, if they've not passed on the appropriate details to you, you should check with them on the basis of whatever 'Service Level Agreement' you have with them."
The thing is, I dont wan't to be an @rse, violate any agreement, and risk Thesis trying to then collect the full amount. Equally, i don't want to have to pay even a month's worth of payment when I am well below the threshold - although I would be willing to pay for a month (assuming that, by then, the SLC would have managed to issue deferment notice(s)) if it kept Thesis Servicing 'sweet'. Any thoughts anyone?0 -
On hearing Radio 4's 'You and Yours', I don't think we know any more than we did already and fear we know just about all we're going to at this stage. My form is in the post, I've sent proof of income, and my current deferment ends in late May. If what we've been told is correct - in that loans of around 5K won't negatively impact on credit reports, I can settle a little and just await Erudio's reply to my deferment application.
My key concern/fear now is solely that of the issue of people having cash taken fro their accounts while in deferment. Let's just hope that Paul Lewis's shining a spotlight on this issue prompts Erudio to be careful and be less flippant with our bank details.0 -

I always sent a complaint to the SLC saying I will not be held liable for your incompetence and they agreed and always said (in writing) they had cancelled any arrears and penalties.
Turned out they lied as my balance was reduced due to violations of the CCA in the notice of assignment.0 -

This is the problem we all face - do what Erudio wants, fill in the forms, provide the relevant deferment info and they'll shaft you anyway.
Don't give them DD instructions and you violate the Ts and Cs.....
Rock and Hard place   :mad:0 -
that certainly is a dilemma that you would have thought would be most important for Erudio to answer to steady the ship for its 'borrowers'. But, as they have spread what is tantamount to misinformation, then blatant contradictory info, that rock and a hard place seems to be where Erudio want us. Just the kind of trick that one would expect from a debt collection agency in all honesty and not one that fosters trust by any means!0
