Very interesting reading through all this. I have a deferment in place which isn't due to expire until next December. I know my income will not be above the threshold then and hence intend to re defer. So plenty of time to get things sorted. I don't have a DD set up nor do they have my bank details precisely to stop the SLC as was and Erudico as is taking money without my permission. I see no reason to give them these. If I were not eligible for a deferment, then I would only be obligated to pay. DD may make payment easier for them but I am not aware of it being the only means we can pay- our legal obligation is to pay only.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Have Erudio written to you at all or heard anything else official from SLC about your loans being sold? Wondering if they aren't bothinging contacting people with deferements that aren't due till later in the year yet?0 -
I've begun calling them 'Evadio' in tribute to their evasive tactics. I actually had a dream about it. It seeps into every bloody dream just lately. I nodded off for an hour and woke up startled, out of a dream where water was pouring over me and people were asking for money. Come on, this is frickin' ridiculous now.
Erudio, Arrow Global and its mother in law must know this thread is here. They've read it. They have to understand we aren't criminals.
While there might be a few slackers who'll jockey for a slice of the "it's not fair" cake, there's a lot of us who've bloody worked hard for years and genuinely don't have the cash, even though we've been in full time work.
And those who are on benefits. Why can't they be treated as before in all cases? It's capitalism at its worst.
I've sent my form. It's gone. Sent it Royal Mail signed for delivery. In theory I'll be right for deferment. My income is well under threshold. But this is 'Evadio' and the only thing they'll tell you is the truth (on the phone) until they tell you the truth next time (on the phone).0 -
Saturday heralds another article about our issue in the Independent. Again by Simon Read.
I'm not allowed to post links as a new user, so search for 'row goes on over deferred student loans'. in google.
The article pretty much tells us little more than we already know. That Evadio (Erudio) are supposedly playing by the law.
It also carries a brief quote from a deferred loan holder who's had cash taken from her account by erudio, while in deferment.
I'm bloody sick of hearing accounts of this happening.
Fact is, I've sent off the flipping forms now. I should be able to sit back and wait for a response. Not be sat here at 2.30am, checking some 'ghost' direct debit from ESL every hour of every day, to be sure the swines haven't taken cash they're not entitled to!
What confidence does it give ANY of us when press articles are merely spouting prose most of us have already cobbled together this week on forums, as well as mysterious quotes from Erudio we never get in print.
I swear, if he wasn't dead, I'd imagine Jeremy Beadle was involved!0 -
still no answer about whether our loans will be registered with CRAs but another worrying concern expressed by Simon Read.

As requested by PM, I have posted up what I have and know about what sort of agreements/clauses were issued for what years here:

baffledbyerudio: Most of the quotes in the press are not by Erudio but by one of the connected companies. I feel it rather disgraceful Mark Filer doesnt go on record himself and account for the shambles of a business he is running. As it was sold by the government and rather contentious, the least he should be doing is going on record and explaining what is happening and why his company is telling people (i.e. his "borrowers") contradictory information. It almost seems a ploy considering how long it has been happening and how little they have said on record.0

Whilst it doesn't apply to me, I'm sure I've read some posters on this and/or associated boards lament that Student Loans are not 'discharged/wiped' when the debtor is made bankrupt (as had happened to them). Now I know this is the case for HMRC debts, CSA/child support commission debts and probably some others too, but does it still apply to Student Loans now that they've been sold to a debt collection agency such as erudio/thesis/honours etc? Or, is it the case that they would be wiped if the debtor went bankrupt after the loans were sold, but the bankruptcy took place when the debts were still with/owned by SLC then they still stand? Any thoughts anyone?0

Yes, it still applies even if the debts are sold on. They cannot be written off in a bankruptcy, IVA, Debt relief Order etc.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Posting this in response to a query of someone elsess post.
My loans are the old mortgage style loans, think the first one was taken out towards the end of the 1998 academic year, that is in early 1999. I am under the impression that these will have been part of the sale. My deferment is valid until mid November and i have heard nothing yet to tell me if they have been sold.
My heart sank when i heard of the sale last year, I am dreading when the forms turn up. I just hope somehow mine have not been sold !.0
