Or, indeed, ANY success stories.0 -
Anyone looked into if any companies/directors associated to erudio/arrow or any of the other shell/off shore companies have made donations to the Conservative party, like wonga did?
It is all quite depressing the cesspit the country has become. We are the only country in the world that allows 5000% apr etc. A lot of those oayday loans companies were kicked out of that bastion of capitalism America for predatory lending and the rates are capped there (hell they are even capped in cut throat Asian economies) Also look at leverage on forex trading (limited to 20% in the US) it's almost unlimited here.
There will be private prisons soon, mark my words.0 -
The other thing making me angry is i wonder how many people if offered to clear the loan at the same rate erudio got them for, would have just been able to turn around to SLC and yep i can pay that and clear the loan there n then.
I know i would have cleared my £3500 for £180 even if it did make me struggle a bit.
No that would be too much common sense, the government would make more money and tax paying citizens might have more money in the long run to spend and stimulate the British economy. Much better to have it all funneled off to a tax haven somewhere.0 -
i agree, SLC should have contacted all deferers and asked for a 10% total cancellation fee or something like that. If you consider administration costs and the like for sending all the info to Erudio and arranging the deal, it would have been just as easy to make us an offer i am sure. Why didnt anyone look into it i wonder.
Just shows neoliberlism, or dare i say Fascism, is so entrenched we dont really notice it at all!0 -
Makes you wonder how much the last donation from the 'investors' was to the Tory party.Still rolling rolling rolling......

So I received my deferment form from the SLC as usual this Feb so filled it out and thought nothing more of it (loans taken out 96-99). 2 of my loans are already with Thesis but they get the deferment notice via SLC.
Then Thesis start chasing me saying I haven't deferred and will be in default. Only after calling the SLC do I find out they've sold my other two loans to Erudio. I had not received my pack. SLC will now not speak to me as 'they have no account details for me'. So I called Erudio (who were actually much more helpful that Thesis) and she acted surprised I hadn't heard anything and resent out the pack and confirmation of deferment.
Apparently Thesis didn't receive the deferment details, probably because it fell just in between the sell off? But anyway I've left it with them to sort their own processes out, its their problem!
What I don't understand is how will I defer my loans next year? Will I get forms from Erudio and Thesis next year? Thesis don't inspire me with confidence. And all this discussion over Erudio has just added to my worries!0 -
well if you check my post on mumsnet recently about who the backers are, Cargill i am sure are major donators/policy negotiators to the food/environmental policies we see unfolding around us at an all too frequent rate. Let alone that europe/US trade deal they are negotiating right now that seems so shrouded in mystery some are predicting the most radical shift in opening up the world to the worst of the US' crippling (all pro big business) policies on health, food and the environment etc, let alone the internet and other such important issues that change the game.
So, in answer to your question, probably significant personal/personnel deals. And lets face it, Labour are just the same now they have just about ousted everyone with gravitas!0 -
Thrown to the wolves at last.
I was wondering when they will sell the loan book, and let loose the jackals. The pretense that it's a loan you never have to pay back was obviously going to build a deeper and deeper financial black hole for the tax payer.
Mortgage Express has been in a similar position. The Buy To Let lender taken over by the government has been under pressure to reduce their loan book for years.

Trip up one little bit, and the hounds of hell will be after you.0 -
This is clearly an issue for current students too.
THE PLAN IS TO SELL OFF THE ENTIRE STUDENT LOAN BOOK.0 -

Is there not a case for the loan being miss-sold then?0
