I provided an email address (not my main one) on the DAF when I applied for deferment back in May.

It's suddenly being bombarded by spam from a few different sources in the last few days - has anyone else who gave an email addy noticed similar?

I haven't given out the email to anyone else lately, so makes me think Erudio have passed it on. Is there any way to check how these companies got hold of it?

Interesting FOI response today on the issues of.

    - Deferment where your are a shared borrower. i.e. split loans between Erudio/Thesis/Honours loans. Not much nw there, but confirms what we already knew more or less.

    - Whether SLC include maintenance payments in gross income, although they don't specify what sort of maintenance. Can only assume it is ALL sorts.

I'm getting a lot of things via post, mobile and email (all of which were supplied to them) about payday loans and that kind of thing. Have never had them until I gave those details to Erudio.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.
  • It is no coincidence that before Erudio took over from SLC, I received no texts from short term loans companies offering loans at exorbitant rates. In my view, Erudio has sold vast tranches of information about us to 3rd parties. You are right to suspect them.

I've just been and added my tuppance worth to the DFA feedback thread. I'd urge anyone who hasnt already done so, to pop over there in plenty of time and get your comments down. The deadline is tomorrow.

As a newbie I'm unable to post the link but tap back to the top of page 115 and you'll find the link.

Please leave your feedback on the revised form and how to guide on the following forum thread NOT on this one.

Interesting - seems somewhat discriminatory to us single parents though :(

And not what I was told by the SLC all those years ago. If I've learned anything from this it is to make sure I get absolutely everything in writing & to never, ever throw any financial paperwork away (so ignoring HMRC's advice).
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

I haven't been getting any unusual bumf from such people & I'm quite surprised. I did get two c/card applications a few days after giving Erudio my details & I have had two odd silent calls which sound like they're coming from call centers - but I've certainly not received the loads I was expecting.

Maybe they're not competent enough to sell everyone's details & are applying their one rule doesn't apply to all method of business that they've applied to everything else :rotfl:

  • I did not receive a deferment application from Erudio even though they contacted me by post 3 months before deferment was due to say this would sent soon.

I had a payment taken from my account and immediately contacted Erudio. Initially they refused to believe who I was because the address on their system did not match my own even though they had sent a letter to me at said address already.

It turned out that the address they used to send deferment form was a rented property I had moved out from 10 years ago and had never used for correspondence with SLC. Once this mistake was rectified they agreed to send new deferment copy to my proper address.

Now by the time I received forms and sent them back again I contacted Erudio and they informed me that a second payment would be taken out as deferment form was not received in time to stop the payment process!

I have since had both payments returned to my account. I would not be pleased that residents of old properties I lived in would be receiving post regarding my personal information and loans status however.
