    Thanks, Anna2007 for your advice.

I felt confident I'd have the fight in me come deferment time but it's not easy thinking clearly when unwell. My brain's gone to pot!

I'll report back to let people know what happens with my deferment, and also update on when I get to speak to my MP.

The more ive thought about it, the stranger it seems that it is such a large drop. That does need explaining, im with you on that as well. Its twice the amount of the next largest change in over 10 years...and its down and not up, bucking trends.
I was reading that the ONS changed its measure of average earnings in 2010, that could explain the only other drop in deferment level that year?

It was mentioned on the thread for the latest MSE article about some benefits being included in the average earnings figure (there has to be something else in there, otherwise the deferment level's nowhere near 85% of average earnings). If it is benefits (possibly including unemployment), that might explain a 7% drop, given the Government's austerity measures? But then you'd think they would mention that in the MSE article, if that's the explanation.

Hi all - just coming into this all after Googling Erudio following my own alarm bells / problems with deferment.

Does anyone have a copy of the application form so i can see what it was that I signed? Cos I filled it all in dutifully and sent it off faithfully...

i dont think any of us know what we've actually signed but many of us suspect the worst. What that is, i guess the future will tell us.
  • Been following the forums, but not commented for a while. I try to keep up to date with the chatter to see which stunner Erudio is in the process of pulling out of its box of tricks.
Now what I'm about to say is merely suggestion. Of course it isn't fact. If I said it was, it would be libelous.
But a couple of thoughts I've had...
So, BIS has calculated its latest earnings threshold on the figures it has to hand, slicing a hefty £2,000+ off the level we can earn and still have grounds for deferment.
Now whether or not this cut is completely justified and the maths are correct, there's no doubting it really works in Erudio's favour. They must be rubbing their hands!
Also, I'd like to bet Erudio KNEW this cut (and possible future drops) were going to happen when they signed and sealed the entire deal.
If we're supposed to believe there's no connection between the sale and the earnings threshold being lowered by two grand, both the Government and Erudio must think we loan holders fell off the Christmas tree!
One key pointer I'd like to bring up is the letter I received from Erudio (I mentioned some time back) indicating a change in policy from 'You MUST have an active DD in place while deferred', to 'We've changed our stance. If you are significantly below the earnings threshold, we no longer require the active DD during a deferment period'.
As it happens, I am well below and still have the DD in place, as I simply don't trust them. I still think this could be a ploy, as the letter doesn't say 'go ahead and cancel it'. It just says 'We've changed our stance'. If I cancelled it, they could argue that the letter wasn't permitting ME to cancel it and their idea of 'significantly' might be different to mine.
Erudio play the game in a very vague way and have done from the start. They don't deal in cold hard figures and facts. Just confusion and contradictions. It's like we're blindfolded, walking a path between two pits of razor sharp spikes, and it's hoped we stray and fall into one of them, while they stand in front of us saying 'come on, you're OK, come on, just a bit further'.
And what's the betting that once the new threshold kicks in, we'll start to maybe see rogue payments on peoples' accounts again, along with who knows what other confusion they have in store for us.
As I say, these are my thoughts. Not fact. Just ideas.
But whether or not there's truth in any of them, I still DO NOT understand how the hell these muppets are being permitted to operate the way they are with important financial matters.
I can only imagine the government is complicit, turning a blind eye, ignoring our hell and worries, and smoothing out the road ahead for Erudio!

I'd like to see what I signed back in the 90s too, yet Erudio has yet to come up with the goods. I paid for a subject access request (Erudio acknowledged it, back in April) and I still haven't heard a dickie bird!

I don't see that they can factor in unemployment benefit as it's 85% of the national full-time wage, and I can't think how somebody in full -time work would ever qualify for that benefit to influence the figures.
