Do all Smart Tv have the same apps?

I think smart TVs are overrated. Im angry cos I got one and I cant watch 4od on it!!!!!!
I would personally just get a normal TV and a youview box or similar to add the smarts to it.0 -
I am wondering about smart tv software upgrades. Could such a tv be upgraded to include apps that it did not have before(like 4od as mentioned by previous poster)? Obviously it would depend on whether that upgrade had been created in the first place but if someone has upgraded and found new features could they say what they got?0

Honestly - it's too damn slow to be worth bothering with. I use my AppleTV to watch Netflix with. I've got Lovefilm (through Amazon Prime) but it's so painfully slow to use I don't bother.
I've just bought a Chromecast (£30) and effectively added BBC iPlayer and Netflix to my kitchen (7 years old) non-smart TV0 -
thor - plenty can and do, but absolutely not all! See above for the bad experiences. It's just not in the company's interest to keep updating TVs when they're trying to design and sell next year's model... They're not computers, they're on custon operating systems, so you're stuck with whatever 'app store' the TV comes with.0

further up , don't forget the tv/internet box option ...... its easier to upgrade the tv box or change it than change the whole tv.
Ralph:cool:
I went with the TV box in the end.
It seemed extravagant to buy a Tv to watch, while my husband and 2 teenage boys are watching sport on the main tv.
I bought a Talktalk Youview box on Ebay, brand new, for £17 + p&p .(non recordable)
We have a 'spare' clunky/fat tv that jumps in and out of full screen and wide screen at random. I have just set it up and I am over the moon. I have all the players that I want, plus the tv isn't jumping about with the 'On Demand' (there is a bit of a hum coming through the TV speakers though)
I took on board what you said Ralph and realised that Talktalk have given out so many of these boxes that they will be supported for a few years yet.
I will upgrade the TV, in time, when I see one that is good value for money, but as it is, I am a very, very happy lady.
Many thanks
