Yes they do feel slightly undulating tbh, I think it was hubby with his sander as I have found more and as I noticed the start of one on a board I kept a wee eye on it and yes it spread over a few boards, the weird thing is the treated covered it ?
Ok so I need to go and buy a belt sander then ... Hmmm that will have to be tomorrow now
I've done about 3/4 of one lot of sanding, can I carry on with that lot and do the second lot with a belt sander or do u think I should start from scratch again ?
no you can carry on, best to just do a say 2m square area at a time with a small sander till its perfect and then move on, at least then you can see progress. and know your on the right track.0 -
I have borrowed a belt sander and it's making it much easier, sadly these marks are still there and not coming out at all ... Starting to get annoyed with them now0

patience and percyvearance.
as I said concentrate to start on a small area till you see progress, then youll feel better.

I think it is although not sure
Well I have finished one sanding and started the next, but these marks are not coming out, I even went down to a 40 sander to try them ... No good
I just don't understand it grrr
Washed the floor last night and the colour is lovely ... However the marks are blatantly there
Getting fed up and scunnered now tbh0 -

and are these mark still undulating, when you run your hand over. if that's the case you need to go deeper
what type of sander did hubby use in the first place?0 -
He used one of those hire ones the kind you walk with plus the two handed orbiter thing for the edges
I'm down to a 40 grit now though ?0 -

those are very very fierce especially if your not used to them.
now for the bad news,
you will need to sand those out or you will be back to where you where before you started the 2nd time and it will look exactly the same.
sorry to have to say that.
dont get another one of them though, unless you get a pro in to sand it for you. percy-vear with the belt, with the 80 grit, moveing smaller grit once you see them going. and as I said do a small area till its perfect and you can see progress and have the faith that your doing it right.0 -
Just to give you a wee update
We landed up going out and buying a new belt sander as the other one was making no real difference, we had gotten a loan of it and it had seen better days
New belt sander, we tried an 80 then a 60 and now onto a 40 but ... And it's a big BUT the marks are finally coming out
We are not sure what exactly these marks are but they must be from the hired machine
So we are going to sand it with a 40 then up to an 80 the hopefully a 180 or something ( can't find a 100 plus to purchase anywhere so going to look online)
Finally we feel as I we are getting somewhere, and I'm gonna be totally honest if it wasn't for you I would've given up by now, husband was threatening to out laminate down and it was starting to be a battle of wills
Next time however I will deff get someone in to do the job as they will be worth every single penny
Thank for the continued support will keep updating0 -
