    I've been Money Tipped!
Well having moaned about Tesco before, on Saturday I made the decision not to shop there any more.

Where I live they have a large store in town, a fairly new very large homeware store in town and a large store about a mile from town. The one outside town has been extended and work has been going on there for about 7 months. The work was finished a couple of weeks ago and on Saturday I decided to do my monthly shop there. Yes the shop has been extended, but only so that they can now sell electrical goods, clothes, cushions, bedding (you get the picture) all of which is already sold in the big homeware store. I, and quite a few of my friends and family, assumed the bigger store was going to sell a better range of food. I was hoping it would have a salad bar but no such luck. I could not even get red rice or risotto rice there on Saturday. Three shelves of microwave rice but no risotto rice? I didn't realise it was so exotic.

If I wanted to buy a tv or whatever from them I would go to the homeware shop which is easy to get to by car or public transport.

When we came out of the shop I said to OH "Is there anything Tesco do not sell? They will be selling houses next". Get home and on teletext there is an item saying Tesco are going into selling houses!!!! Are they trying to take over England?

They are such a greedy company. I used to shop there because I liked getting the points but now they can stick their points!!! Their fruit and veg is usually pretty crap anyway and often they do not have things like potatoes and onions (even though they are a 24 hour shop)!!!!

I bought a tumble dryer today and paid £10 more than I could get it in Tesco. Mad? You may think so but I am making a stand.

You're not alone, we do the same and keep our Tesco spend to an absolute minimum for exactly this reason. I think the Tesco backlash is starting to grow - they've lost their image of Britain's friendly local supermarket and are now just a corporate behemoth that try to take over every market they can possibly get into. I don't want to live in Tescoland.

There was a story in our local paper last week where a report had found 80% of our city shopped at our local Tesco and the reporter had inferred from that we were 'Tesco-lovers'. Err, no it's just because, Waitrose apart, the next nearest supermarkets are 15+ miles away and Tesco would crush any attempt at another chain trying to open up a store nearby.

Sure that's just competition, they're a business, other supermarkets try to copy them, they're a British success story, shareholders are happy etc etc but I'm not going to help them get there!

I also believe I am entitled to get a refund of money, not a refund into my account which will take upto 5 working days.

You paid by card. It takes the same time to go out as it does go in. 5 days is just a max. More than likely if it goes out straight away it will go back in straight away as well. I cannot believe people make a fuss over something so trivial.

How are opening hours and availability correlated?

People say things like this, as if theres a connection, but there isn't. I work at an Airport, when we don't sell something i get "Well it's an airport". The request will be nothing to do with travelling, it's just one of those things people say that has no meaning but apparently is suppose to be an explanation? It's as if an Airport will be special and have everything you can think of because "it's an airport". Which I assume is the same with 24 hour opening. But opening times are just that, opening times.

As long as Tesco continue to employ rude people who do not care about providing good customer service the company will continue to get negative comments from me and others.

There may well be a pefectly lovely Tesco somewhere with really jolly, happy caring people working in it. Unfortunately that store doesn't happen to be MY local one. Or any of the others i've ever been to.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

    Peace, love and labradors!

Personally, I dont shop at Tesco's as I prefer Asda, so theres nothing I can complain about regarding Tesco, I dont think its just Tesco people complain about, the same can apply to Asda, Morrisons or any other major superstore. But if you do a search for Tesco, youll find complaints about Tesco. The same applies to the other stores. People complain, if they have a reason to, in effect Tesco has complaints by people who have been upset by them, if the majority of complaints are about Tesco's instead of Morrisons or Asda, then it says a lot about the service they are providing.

I always shop at Asda, so if I am ever going to find myself complaining about a supermarket, its more than likely going to be about Asda.

It says more about their market share to me.

I couldnt agree with you more. Asda is just an awful supermarket. Such bland products and such utter dribble for electrical items.

I had the misfortune to enter an ASDA once, it was an awful experience so much so that I ran into the arms of Tesco.

Im glad you prefer Tesco too.
