I have a headache and no urge to cook.
We went to look at buying an electric van today. Confused. That's when the headache started.
I saw an electric car last night. Was like a smart car, but even smaller. Looked very peculiar.
I've been very lazy this evening - dinner was a childrens cottage pie (which was actually very nice) with some stir fried cabbage and leeks (one of those slightly iffy pre-prepared bags, to which I added garlic and chilli). Have got Glastonbury on in the background (radio 1 dance stuff from Glastonbury).
Just half invited a friend over tomorrow... she's keen. So I guess I'd better do some cleaning...0 -

So if a member of the public sees a socket they can just plug in?
I'd have never dared assume that .... I'd have expected a whole raft of "stealing electricity, not allowed" .... and "not been PAT checked"
Once I've moved, my nearest library (a mile away) has had some sort of overhaul .... although it's a very old building. Maybe they have sockets.0 -

Easier than that ... just find 3 random boxes, open them and leave them in the middle of the floor.... then when she comes round say you've been so busy sorting out some more boxes you'd not noticed the time... "oh look, and I meant to do the cleaning before you arrived...."0 -

I'm going to think of it as a 'pre-clean' before I do a proper clean at some point next week... my parents are coming over again!0 -

Sorry PN - not very sensitive of me.0 -
Opticians appointment done... eyes slightly worse than last appointment (ok for 8 years... I found the last prescription) but otherwise healthy.
Sounds good! And brave of you - didn't you say you hated eye tests?Mrs Generali and I watched the David Beckham thing about riding a motorbike through the Brazilian rainforest with a bunch of blokes. It was very interesting. I would recommend it to you, regardless of your views on soccer. It was an insight into a man.
We watched part of that - the man's such a raving ego maniac, it was hard to stomach!I've just done a bag of jelly beans in 2 days. 800 calories minus the black ones which I threw away.
I throw the black ones away either because I'm racist or because they taste like liquorice only worse, I leave it for you to decide which.
Could you not offer them around, rather than chucking them?CKhalvashi wrote: »Happy birthday Bugs!
NDG, I'll be back mid August.
You must really miss your family! Or are they missing school and work and travelling with you?PasturesNew wrote: »There's nothing to do free in most parts of the country .... and if there is, then doing it once is more than enough.
And, once they charge, they charge fortunes - because they can - because there are enough people with enough money who are prepared to pay it.
London really is an exception, there - you can spend months at the free parts of the major museums and galleries, without seeing or doing the same thing twice.
Tomorrow, for example, we're going on a walking tour of Roman London, organised by the Museum of London....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I think the everyone should do a tour of London- one of the buses or river tours would be good. Or even get a double decker bus around the centre or West london, and give the underground the bodyswerve.
Or go into any of the free museums (as I expect we've all already paid for them via taxes or buying sugar etc.):)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Well had my horrible day as planned..and it went very well.
Consultant was fab this morning, will 'do something' as they agree I cannot carry on as I am. Doubled my medication immediately to mitigate some of the problem. My notes have been sent to Anaeasthetist to assess risk for major op if that is the route, and suggested alternative if op not wise. To examine/biopsy me if needed, they will give me a GA..not to knock me out to avoid the embarrassment, but because of the last injury experience.
Will have a scan within 2 weeks (not anticipating anything sinister) and seeing Cons on 11/7. I am delighted with how it went aftr my last horrible experience.
Went into work and delivered difficult news, which will get a formal launch in the next few weeks...all respectful and professional...for now.
Dealt with threat of police action...that problem resolved fully.
Left work at 3.30 ....back at 6pm for a leaving do. I don't work Fridays.:)
OH is home from Quebec, which he says is a lovely place. I have a bottle of Hendricks gin:) Although came home early from the leaving do OH and I went out for a drink at our local..landlord bought the first round (Hendricks and a pint for us) which was a nice gesture.
So all in all it was a much better day than expected.0 -
Anyone else watch the programme this evening about Mormon missionaries on Channel 4? It was fascinating!
The 20 year old they followed on his 2 year stint as a missionary wasn't allowed to meet any member of his family for the whole time, could make phone calls twice a year to them. He and his fellow missionary had to be together every minute of every day for the whole time, except when in the loo or bath. They slept in the same room, had to be in the same room, do everything together, 24 / 7. Very, very odd. No internet, books, newspapers, films, TV, radio, no anything....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Do you get to hang on to DH for a bit, or is he off abroad again soon?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
