Interesting, thanks lir. I wonder where bugs thinks the best roads are.

Definitely not an expert, but the county I now live in and the previous one both have noticeably better road surfaces than their neighbours. You can definitely notice when you've crossed the boundaries.

I'm not aware of potholes... so must live in an area where there aren't any .... or, maybe I just don't get out often :)

We were thinking if we stick to warm white we can mix styles ok probably.

We particularly want different size lights on the same things in places.

    A bit like this

    Or this

But a little less much than both maybe. :)

I love those. We have them in the trees in out town for Christmas. Cold white, but equally pretty.

I have always wanted a green floodlight and a big tree to light up at night. I had one for a night when I organised doozer's 40th in the garages. And a red carpet and a bubble machine.

There is an airport at Southend?

I think the 'outing' sounds like making fun out of a chore. What a nice mum.

The same question I asked on Friday!

I don't really know what's there, other than Seaside. We see a bit too much of Blackpool, so I'd (personally) rather see/do something unlike Blackpool if anybody knows that part of the world at all. :o

Certain roads in the north up here have recently been resurfaced in preparation for a certain bike race later this summer ... cue much chuntering from those not in favour of the race, saying that the money should have been better spent ... of course, the roads would have needed doing then or pretty soon anyway but that's an inconvenient truth!

I had to drive there once, in about 1987, for work. It was to visit a client premises, so I headed for the signs "seafront"..... what an utter disappointment, it was grim, very grim... bleak and grim. Awful... bleak .. and grim.

Although that was nearly 25 years ago so maybe now it's posh with the Jamie Effect and all that :)

I guess Google images would yield some idea.....

Who knows, maybe I found the industrial docks end :)

Southend makes me think of the pier and The Kursaal, which gave its name to the Kursaal Flyers... Little does she know...

I have no idea if either are still there, haven't been in about 30 years, even though it is probably the closest seaside from here.

Sue may know Southend, thinking about it. I think I went to speedway there once with my dad. Though that was even longer ago and I don't know if that's still there either.

I've got a serious case of Sunday-night-blues this evening.

I wonder if being a home owner makes going back to work harder, something to do with it being your home not just where you sleep.

I don't know their policy silver, but I'm pretty sure that round here those in power don't either. Wasn't it the head of the RAC who broke his suspension on a pothole in St Albans?

There's a road near here that is the most logical way to work, but I never take it as turning right onto the main right I feel that the pothole I'm trying to avoid is going to pull my wheel off. If I try to pull out slowly, then I'll get hit by a car coming round the corner. Madness... It's been like that for months even though it has been reported several times.

When I drove down to lir's I kept thinking how much better maintained the roads were in her county.

Don't get me started on Herts Highways, they kept telling us that it was the run of cold winters that broke the roads, this winter was almost frost free and the roads were worse than ever. Even the bit they fixed for the Olympic batten (including only one side of a dual carriageway in Viva town) relay is broken again.

Failed multiquote but aren't there airports closer to DG than Soufend?

Oh and LIR, you are well hot so you must have been amazing before....
    I think....
