All quiet and respectable.... looked like one of the neighbours had some gutter overflowing issues as there were huge damp patches down the brickwork, but as my house is number 1 of 4 and the damp patches were down both walls of adjoining 2/3 and 3/4 that's not my concern.

Two people parking "outside of the bays" in the parking area, most parking bays weren't being used. But people will come/go and there'll always be some annoying parker at some point.

People do seem to park outside the parking area, on the 'main road' on the double yellow lines a lot there - sometimes half on the pavement - so clearly the parking attendants aren't round that way often/ever. Parking on the other side of the road, between 6pm and 8am is allowed, but nobody does that. I'd not leave my car on yellow lines, just one ticket's a lot of money.

My neighbour asked yesterday morning if we could leave part of our drive clear (we're back in Georgia as of 9 hours ago), and I've said that's fine, as long as I can leave one of our cars on her drive for the week, leaving the middle of the two drives open. She said that's fine.

She's expecting large furniture to be delivered, and wants easy access to her front door (which unfortunately means a lorry parking half over my driveway due to the design of the flats opposite)

If it was a more common occurrance, and someone wanted to park in my space (on land I owned/rented) it really would wind me up, however......

I can see that TBH. Often in business, good enough is good enough IYSWIM.

    Not in my business.

I mentioned on another thread this morning, that we have competitors with a lot more money, and a lot more power than we have, paired with several clients that would happily pay through the nose to be with them. It's important for us to remember that 10% of a lot of money, can be more than 75% of not so much in our industry.
There has to be a balance between quantity and quality of output. Most of us are working for Toyota not Rolls Royce. By trying to make everything into a Rolls we're screwing with the business model.

This is my view on things to an extent, however whatever it is, it needs to be well-polished and in the position to sell itself, again as in our industry whether you're contracting for Toyota or Rolls, each sale is worth roughly the same price.

Anyone else watching the news? A bit worried about what is being announced. UKiP looks to have won in the UK and Front National in France. People's Party in Denmark - not as right wing but anti EU federalists. Hungary has gone right wing and anti EU.

In Greece, 1/4 of the vote has gone to anti-establishment anti EU left. Similar issue in Italy.

Big groupings moving away from the centrist mainstream.

I have to admit I'm feeling worried about this.

    Me too, if I'm honest.

I can see to an extent why it's going this way, but it's certainly not the way to go........

    Very worrying indeed.

Lets hope that calmer heads prevail in the national elections which people will hopefully take a bit more seriously.

I'd like to suggest that all NPs who are parents might find this interesting.
Not least because it links to my fave Professor Hertfordshire's top brainbox Richard Wiseman.

Wonder how many NPs remember 8-track cartridges, a kind of tape used in cars that only had one button, for changing between four sections of the tape. And an eject button of course. NO play/FF or RW buttons.

I did the test and got the expected outcome..a full count of the passes, my daughter did not get a full count but saw other things.

This proves beyond doubt what we already knew..she has never quite done as she is asked/instructed/required to.

Should you wish to visit his installation at Crosby Beach (OH thinks it's around 7 miles from here) you are most welcome to visit so long as you don't mind our guest room having a travel cot in it! :o Oh, and the house being full of boxes too as we're still trying to clear old home. A posh hotel we're not, but you'd have a friendly welcome!

Thank you. That is a very kind offer. That figure looks beautiful in the linked picture.

I saw some of that installation in Stavanger . My bil had died the previous day (he had been terminally ill, but the end came unxepectedly quickly. We had cut short our trip and were waiting for a flight home that night..this sculpture , which I had planned to visit, took on new meaning as I 'found' the man, walked as close to meet him as I could, never quite being able to reach him, seperated by water, or sometimes a glimpse amongst trees but no more. I only saw a small number, I had thought I would see loads. It felt very personal and intimate.

Then weirdly in the taxi to the airport we followed a route where many of the statues were visible from the road.

I've been to 2 christenings: The Boy's and The Girl's.

At The Girl's I asked if we could sing Jerusalem or Abide With Me, both songs are associated with English sport.

The vicar had us all sing Bread of Heaven instead. He was Welsh.

    That made me laugh.

No singing today. A very warm and friendly lady vicar though.

I am not sure it will.

Calm heads who I usually deal with as the democratic representatives of some staff groups, are now shifting political alignment. Causing challenges in the organisation they represent, amongst some of their members and some concern with some colleagues.

They continue to be the democratic representatives. I do not know if that is inertia, active support from members for a new shared belief, or just a consequence of them always having been effective and continuing to be so whatever their personal political hue.

The belief does not usually spill over into discrimination, but known views supporting controlling eastern european immigration in particular, higher expectations of assimilation and less multi culturalism, a stronger british identity.
